Jinny's First Day

Kie (CriMsoNRoSe) and I have decided to do a fic together. I hope you like the begining.

Today is Jinny Exstead's first day at the Division. She was so nervous so she had a quick drink before she left her apartment. She didn't think anyone would notice.
Popping a piece of Winterfresh gum in her mouth and gets in her car, starting it and driving to the SFPD.

Jinny walked into the Division and walked up to the Captain office and knocked on the door.
Kate- Come in.
Jinny- Captain McCafferty, I'm not sure if you remember me I'm Jinny Exstead.
Kate- Of course. Are you ready to get to work?
Jinny- Lay it on me.
Kate- Great. Jinny I will now introduce you to your temporary partner.
Jinny- Ok great.
Kate- Magda Ramirez, this is Jinny Exstead she will be your partner for the time being.
Magda: Hi, Jinny! Mind if I call you Jin?
Jinny: *Smiles a little* Reminds me of the drink, but go ahead.
Magda: *Smiles* You can call me Mag, if you want. Excited about working on your first case?
Jinny: Excited, little nervous...
Magda: *Laughs a bit* Don't worry. It's not as hard as it looks.
Kate- Think again. We just got a new case and I want you and Jinny working this one. A girl was caught with a lot of drugs in her locker and $10,000 in her room while we were searching for more drugs.
Magda- Are you sure that the money wasn't hers from her parents?
Kate- Not when her parents are on welfare.
Jinny- Ok let's go talk to her.
Kate- Good luck.

They get to the crime scene, after taking Jinny's car and seeing a few policemen there and Jinny's brother Casey, she feels a little more at ease. Magda looks around for a moment and tries to see how the girl and her parents were living on welfare when they had such a nice house in a good neighborhood.

Magda- Don't you think it is weird that she lives in such a nice, expensive house if they are on welfare?
Jinny- Let's go see.

Jinny and Magda walked up to the mother. She was wearing very nice clothes and an very expensive necklace.

Rosella- What are you people doing all over my lawn?
Magda- I'm Inspector Ramirez, this is my partner Inspector Exstead.
Rosella- I don't care who you are. I want you out of my house.
Magda- We're investigating a crime, ma'am.
Rosella- Crime? What crime?
Jinny- Your daughter was caught with drugs in her lockers and 10 thous. in her bedroom.
Rosella- That's not possible. She get's good grades. She is the best daughter anyone could hope for. She doesn't take drugs.
Jinny- Well Ma'am we never said she takes drugs. All we said was that we found some in her locker.
Rosella- Oh well she..
Magda- Just tell us the truth please.
Rosella- Please understand. You've got the wrong girl. My husband and I work very hard to give her what she needs... now if you'll excuse me. I would like to to leave or let be.

She walks away and Jinny just rolls her eyes.

Jinny- Unbelievable....
Magda- Well shall we go pull the girl out of school and have a little chat?
Jinny- Took the words right out of my mouth.
Magda- See you are getting the hang of it.
Jinny- Yeah this is fun.
Magda- *Laughs* Fun maybe, but I've been on a few cases with a couple other inspectors... dead bodies full of bloody holes. Not a very pretty sight...
Jinny- Well, no, maybe not that part, but the rest of it.
Magda- Yeah, I see what you mean.

They walk to Jinny's car and talk on the way.

Jinny- So, exactly how do you know all these things?
Magda- Well, my aunt and pretty much every woman in my family is a performer or a stay-at-home mom. I wanted to be something different. Something they wouldn't expect.
Jinny- You sure showed them huh?
Magda- I didn't to it to prove something. I have a son and I wanted him to be proud of his mother.
Jinny- What's your son's name?
Magda- Ben. He is the joy of my life. So what about you? Got any kids?
Jinny- Nope.
Magda- A boyfriend?
Jinny- It's just me. I have a father and 2 brothers on the police force as well.
Magda- What about your mom?
Jinny- Oh, uh well.. she uh... she commited suicide when I was 14...
Magda- Oh.. I'm sorry, Jinny.
Jinny- Mag, please, you didn't know.
Magda- I know but.. how do you deal with it?
They finally get to the car and Jinny opens the door, about to get in.
Jinny- That's the point. I don't.
She gets in the car and starts the engine.
Magda- I don't understand.
Jinny- You wouldn't. I am just all screwed up and have been since I was 15. Hey afterwork you want to go to the Anchorside for a drink?
Magda- Sure I guess I could go for a beer.
Jinny- Beer? Come on get something stronger than that. They got tequila, vodka, .. *Goes on naming practically all the strong drinks they have there*
Magda- *Not really realizing she had a drinking problem.... or at least the beginning of one* Aye!, were you a baretender in a previous life or somethin'?
Jinny- *Laughs* Just know my way around drinks.
Magda- If I knew that many, I'd probably be drunk 24/7!
Jinny- *Smiles a little*
They got to the school and went straight to the principals office. On the way there, they were remembering when they were in high school.

Magda- Can you remember when we had to go through this hell?
Jinny- *Laughs* Yeah I had the most awful teachers at my school.
Magda- We were all terrible for our teachers.
Jinny- Aren't all kids? *Smiles*
Magda- Well come to think of it I wasn't that bad..*Grins*
Jinny- That's because Little Miss Magdalina Ramirez was the PERFECT angel. Church on Sundays, Bible readings on Saturdays... *Grins*
Magda- Well... not ALL the time. Mom made us go to chruch, but it wasn't every Sunday.
Jinny- Riiight, I bet the worst you ever did was put gum on the bottom of a desk!
Magda- *Laughs* Hey!
Jinny- *Makes a turn, laughing* What? It's true!
Magda- Well....
Jinny- Oh that's it! You are going to hell missy!!
Magda- Oh mommy save me! *Laughs*

Then went into the principal's office.

Magda- May we speak to the principal please?
Secretary- And you are..?
Jinny- San Francisco Police Department.
Secretary- Well, she's very busy, I----
Magda- Ma'am this is a serious matter. Tell her that if she doesn't talk to us, I'll personally go in there and bring her out here.
Jinny- *Taken aback by this*
Secretary- Uh, yes.. right away....

She goes to get the principle and Jinny just stares at Magda wide-eyed.

Magda- What?
Jinny- Nothing. *Laughs*

The principal came out of her office.

Principal- Look, I am very busy and I --
Magda- *Flashed her badge in her face* Oh I think you can find time for us.
Principal- Of course. How may I help you?

The principal came out of her office.

Principal- Look, I am very busy and I --
Magda- *Flashed her badge in her face* Oh I think you can find time for us.
Principal- Of course. How may I help you?
Jinny- We're investigating a crime.
Magda- We understand that a girl had drugs in her locker?
Principle- Well, yes. And we're taking care of that as soon as we can.
Jinny- Did you know her?
Principle- Well, not as much as some of the others in school. I mean, she was so quiet, got into trouble a few times, but other than that, I've never gotten any complaints.
Jinny- *writes this down*
Magda- What kind of trouble?
Principal- Just minor things. Acting up during class, getting into a few fights,..
Jinny- What do you mean acting funny?
Principal- Well she would laugh out in class and stumble a few times ya know little things.
Jinny- I see.
Magda- Mrs. Ambrose, did you ever think to look in her locker when that was going on?
Principle- Inspector, understand something. I run a tight ship. But not that tight. I feel these kids should express themselves. I thought maybe she just wanted attention.
Jinny- And you 'just thinking' that might get her thrown into jail for posession.
Principal- Listen these kids always act funny. It's called being a teenager.
Magda- Never the less she had drugs in her locker.
Principal- Well I don't know what you want me to do about it.
Jinny- What about her parents? What did they say when you told them about her behavior?
Principle- They said they would clear it up right away.
Jinny- You clear zits up 'right away'. Not this.
Principle- I'm not her parents, I wouldn't know what they've punished her with, or at all for that matter. As far as I know, she had detention and her parents paid a fine.
Jinny- How long does she have detention for? I thought if something like that happened you would suspend or expell a person.
Principal- She got one detention and we felt that was punishment enough.
Magda- Excuse me? One detention?
Principal- Yes. We felt she would get a worse punishment at home so we want to make it harder for her. It was her first offense and we wanted to give her a break. She's a good kid and has never done anything like this before.
Principle- Look, I really do have to get back to work. If there's anything else I can do, just call. *She walks away and Jinny rolls her eyes*
Jinny- "Never did any of this before" Yeah, that's what they say about the convicts in prison...
Magda- *Nods* Well, seems we didn't and aren't getting much out of her.
Jinny- Now I remember why I hated my principle.
Magda- Why?
Jinny- They're either tight lipped, or tight assed.
Magda- *Laughs and they walk out to Jinny's car*
Magda- So how were you in high school?
Jinny- I got by. I wasnt validvictorian but I got through it. You?
Magda- Straight A's. If I got any lower I would cry my eyes out. I felt I was a disappointment.
Jinny- Didn't you ever go out?
Magda- No. I had to study.
Jinny- I could never do that. I went out almost every night.
Magda- Party girl huh?
Jinny- You bet. Among other things.
Magda- *Laughs* A little too far into your personal life, I'm guessing?
Jinny- You guess right.
Magda- Textbook definition?
Jinny- Slut.
Magda- *Tries not to laugh at the way she said it*
Magda- So you admit you are a slut.
Jinny- Well I get around you know what I mean?
Magda- *Laughs* Yes.
Jinny- Do you know of anyone else we should talk to?
