Thumbs up clearing the air on "james ewing " jrewingishere@aol.com"

i recently received 143 episodes of "i love lucy" from james i ordered them before christmas and had them sent surface mail 4-6 weeks after about 9 weeks i began to get worried i had read the post about him on this board and i didn't know what to think but i refused to post anything bad about him because i know that mail isn't always on time and can be stolen as well!!
as it turned out the package was held in the u.s for nearly 3 weeks before they even shipped it i don't know why (mabye they were dubbing copies for themselves ) so i am glad that it finally came i will always give a trader a chance to explain their side of the story and then wait patiently
the tapes james sent to me are great they are all uncut and in great shape and all correctly labelled this is going to be a fantastic set once i get the remaining episodes.

thankyou very much james !!

There was an article in our local paper about child pornography, and how it's heavily trafficed through the US Mail. And how it's labeled as other things. They've been trying heavily to stop this disgusting practice, so perhaps your stuff got caught up in an investigation. Especially if they may have noticed how a lot of stuff may be coming from one person....

That may not have happened - it's just a thought.

It's good you got your stuff finally, and that you held off on slamming someone until you were sure. It would have been frustrating for him, knowing that he sent them, but that's why I always use a means of shipping that you can get confirmation.

Just my two cents.

I don't think you can use a tracking number when sending overseas, though a signature confirmation is possible (?).

Though I do sweat quite a bit over delayed trades, I don't post a person as a bad trader until at least three months have transpired. I've only had to do that three times, and God willing, never again. That's never fun.

I also had to wait 4 weeks until James' tape arrived here (Austria, Europe). First I was worried too it wouldn't arrive anymore but it did. l also want say it was a really good quality and he's -as far as I know - a good trader and very nice, good mail communication, he answered every question, thanks James

I have heard very good things about James Ewing, which makes me suspicious of comments like this. I've had a couple of disgruntled banned members bad mouth me anonymously, too, using multiple aliases. It's too easy for someone to post nasty comments out of spite, not necessarily out of truth.

I know what it's like to get ripped off, but you need to be more upfront and more specific (i.e. your name, ID on trading boards, email address, etc.) if you want to be taken seriously.

what would be a good reason for someone to make up a story of a bad trader?

A friend of mine traded with a "well respected trader" on this board; however, the stuff my friend got had no sound. When confronted, this supposedly well respected trader turned the tables and claimed that the stuff he received was unwatchable. I received the identical set, which was taped at the same time, and the shows were very good quality, every last tape.

I suppose someone would make up a story because they got mad at a person for one reason or another. Who knows? It is generally not a good idea to take everything stated on trading boards as gospel truth. Consider the source, and if the accuser is basically unknown, this should send up red flags.

Of course, there are always exceptions to these rules. You just never really know, but God does.

i guess its hard to say. and same goes with good traders posts...for all we know...people can be posting themselves good traders under different names,,,making people think that they are good traders when they are not. And if someone posts a bad trader when everyone else is saying their are good,,,its fishy,,,but not exactly untrue. Its good to wait 3 months like you do for traders, i do not have the patience like u i give it a month TOPS

Hnybny,

I agree with you that we need to be careful of good trader posts, too. Hopefully a thorough google search will smoke out the bad guys, but if not, the smaller the trade the better.

The main reason I wait three months before posting a bad trader is because I try to give traders the benefit of the doubt. The traders that have ripped me off always had good excuses (my nephew died, my father died, my VCR died, etc.). So just in case one of these excuses are true, I go along with it for awhile. I mean, what if the shoe was on the other foot?

Hi everybody! Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents

I'm like everybody else - I'd like to get the stuff I've traded for within a week! But - I do realize that people get busy or have stuff that comes up and it just isn't going to happen that way.

Communication, communication, communication is the KEY to a successful trade! Both parties need to keep in touch and I like to get at least a one line email once a week - just for my own peace of mind! Another thing I have learned - thanks to CP32 for this one - 'cause she gave me the idea - I now tell people to tell me when they are ready to ship and then we can ship at the same time. That way, I never get anxious over a trade. I'll also, obviously give the new people the same consideration and tell them to hold off on shipping until I get their stuff ready to go. Obviously, with new, unknown people - they ship first - but, with few exceptions - I'll wait until they tell me they are going to mail my stuff. That's what Christina did - and it worked out great. There are also a few people on the board that I'd feel totally comfortable sending up front and waiting forever on their stuff 'cause I know it's worth the wait. I guess it's all a matter of preference and how comfortable you are waiting. Either way - COMMUNICATION has to continue and hopefully, in the end - both parties will be happy and without any mud-slinging on the sitcoms board

If I recall correctly when this James Ewing thing came up a few months back he actually came to the board and requested specifics from you about this trade and you refused to let him know them. If you were serious and truthful about this and he wanted to know who you were, what tapes he was to have sent you, etc, you wouldn't have said I want nothing to do with you, I found my stuff elsewhere.

If I had time I'd dig up the post but I dont have the time right now.
