Default The Harper Bedrooms Question, again!

Just watched todays Mama's Family episode. When Vint and his family moved in they put Buzz in the attic, and Sonia in Fran's office which was described as Ellen and Eunice's old room. So , when Bubba moved in(he took Fran's room) Whatever happened to Fran's office room? Why didn't Naomi and Vint take that room?

Everytime an episode comes on about them fighting over living space, I think of that. In the NBC years, they had 3 bedrooms (one called Fran's studio). However, in the syndicated ones they seemed to only mention two. I think it was done just so it would make the story lines better with Vint and Naomi living in the basement. And it did, it wouldn't have been quite as funny if they had had a normal room upstairs.

Yes, that fakeness bothers me. That house's size from out front didn't look like a house that would only have 2 bedrroms upstairs.

We must remember though, that we learn in "Naomi and the Stork" that Aunt Fran's room is "humongous!", and Mama's is even bigger. So that leaves a bathroom, an attic, and Franny's studio, which is "microscopic!". And whereas the studio may have been efficient enough for two little girls, it wouldn't have been big enough for Vint 'n Naomi.

But if the syndication version had the studio, it would have been sufficient for Bubba. Thelma only had him take Fran's room so she should "Watch him like a hawk." (I THINK that was her quote.) She acted like his only other choice would have been the basement, which was too far for her to watch him. In the episode he arrived in, no one mentions that he could stay in Sonya's old room which is upstairs, so Vint and Naomi could have Fran's room. If it was realistic, that discussion would have happened.

Remember to keep in mind that it is only a show.

Yeah, Mama's room was probably right across the hall from Frannie's. Since Mama wanted him right there "to keep an eagle eye on his ev'ry move", then she woudln't have wanted him in the studio anyway.

And who knows, maybe somethin' happened to that room between the NBC and syndication years...some kinda damage, maybe somethin' to make it unsafe...the possibilities are endless! lol

Yes, I thought of that possibility that her room was closer to Fran's room than Fran's old studio. (And I got the wrong bird--eagle, not hawk. lol)
