Default Boechsner, Do you know if What's Happening was cancelled at the end of 78-79 season?

Was the show cancelled or did some of the cast members lose interest in continuing their role on the show?

Even if say Rerun lost intrest, I'm sure the show would've tried to continue.

If the show ad went on without rerun, lot of vewers would have been lost. People watched the show at the time, to see RERUN.

But i think the reason why What's Happening!! was canceled because during that time period the taste of the viewing television audience was changing from sitcoms to more dramatic shows like Dallas....

Even so, the ratings were good enough to merit a fourth season.

Actually, I heard the reason the series was cancelled was because some of the actors (Fred Berry for one) was lobbying for a pay increase and was getting the other actors to join him in this attempt. Since the ratings had dropped during the 1978-1979 season, ABC just decided to cancel it instead of give in to a pay increase that they didn't think was deserved.

As for Dee, she's the main reason I watched the show.

Dee's the best character followed by Shirley. Actually, Dee could have easily been the daughter of Florence Johnston from The Jeffersons.

I thought a person asked for a pay increase when a show is in the top 10, not 30-LOL Very stupid for the guys to expect a raise in their salary with Poor Ratings

But the ratings weren't that poor. They weren't great, but they weren't that bad either.

They defintely were not high enough for them to ask for more money
