What would you do if your mother in law gave you a pin that was shaped like the United States. I think I would do what Laura did and "accidentally" grind it up in the garbage disposal.

I love that episode! I enjoyed watching it on TV Land yesterday. My mother-in-law has given me some strange things, like a clear plastic toilet seat with coins embedded in the plastic. I just smiled, thanked her very much and gave it to Salvation Army several months later. She has never mentioned it again and neither have I. She started saving things in the early 70's for her son when he got married. We didn't get married until 1988, so you can imagine some of the "treasures" we received. My husband has a good sense of humor about it, thankfully, and she has never said anything about the fact that she never sees these "treasures" in our house. I don't know what I would have done with a brooch in the form of the the USA, however. I think Laura Petrie handled it very well!
