Default Why was Dee so intrigued by Spike Gibbs?

She always seemed so sassy. The I don't care type, but she was really taken by that old man. She cared for him more than the guys did. I guess they were trying to show that even Dee has feelings. Her slowly walking away from the hospital was a great scene.

I didn't realize Mr. Gibbs was the same actor who played Henry Jefferson.

Yeah, the beard and the old make up kind of covered him up, but that's him.

Anytime Dee was intrigued by a situation she would let her guard down a bit. She always acted like she was one step ahead of everyone, so the second she wasn't sure of something it got to her.

Lightbulb Simply put...

Simply put and basically speaking, Dee wanted to find out more about "Spike" Gibbs due to the fact that he had various issues in his life: he was hospitalized for a terminal illness and also his legs; his daughter and him weren't speaking due to her miscegnation (inter-marriage); and Spike was just plain sassy and grouchy!
It looked like Dee wanted to really find out what he was all about, and also wanted to know someone who was "equally sassy"---on an elder level.
Dee also wanted to help bring him closer to his daughter...

Once she "melted" his heart, though, and got through to him (due to the fact that Spike said that Dee reminded him so much of his daughter), it was a given that Dee would never forget about Spike Gibbs. She made sure that it (forgetting Spike) wouldn't happen.
