Yeah... the older episodes have that spooky music(with the purple bars). I like it actually. Many episodes I just play the beginning of the episode sometimes because I like the music so much.

I agree the music does enhance watching Unsolved Mysteries. Also I've noticed the lighting in some of the stories does help set the mood of the particular story. The Gayle Delano story, one of the most interesting ones in my opinion, where she was found to have staged her own disappearance and then committed suicide, the lighting is dark and depressing kind of like her mood according to her diary. Then the Aileen Conway story where she was mysteriously found burned in her car in a remote location and her house looked as if she had left abruptly. The lighting was dark and eerie on that story. Then they showed the house looking deserted and the wind was blowing the patio door curtains I thought was really eerie.

That's because Robert's voice was distinct and it went well with the music. Without his voice, I don't think it (the music or the show as a whole) would be as scary to me.

Do you know which story frightens me most of all combined with Robert's voice and the music? The story about the middle-aged woman who was found tied to a tree while dead. I'm getting the creeps as I'm sitting here thinking about it.

Oh yea...that one really creeps me out too. It really makes me wonder what kind of sickos exist in this world, to do that to an innocent human being.

I used to be creeped-out by his voice and the music, but over time, it didn't bother me anymore.

Yeah, that was definitely sick. It was as if her killer placed her like that to say, "Hey, look at what I've done to her."

The monster just put her on display as if she were some kind of exhibit.

Same here. Hey, I even watch it in the dark, which makes it scarier. In fact, I always look forward to watching UM to hear him. Robert's voice may be creepy but without him and his voice, the show wouldn't be effective.

By the way, in Robert's autobiography, he mentioned that there was something that creeped him out when was 6-years-old. It's at the link below and it's interesting how that came from the same man who spooks us with his voice on UM.

When I first saw the movie Airplane! several years ago, I didn't know that Robert Stack was in it. I was laughing along with the movie until I heard his voice and instantly got creeped out. He did a good job and was funny once I started to get over the initial creeped-out stage, but still.

About the woman who was tied to a tree. I haven't seen that in years, but lately I've been thinking about it every so often. If I remember correctly, she got several obscene letters in the mail. Is this the same case? Was it ever solved?

He was also in that "Twilight Zone" episode where the plane was flown into the prehistoric era with the dinosaurs. Robert was one of the pilots!!

Yeah, that was a scary case. I remember there was an update the last time I saw it, but it was "we will bring you information on a future broadcast" updates. BTW, does anybody know what was written on one of the notes the killer left? I know UM had to blur out one word, which I never could figure out.

Here's something CREEPY to add to this post -
My mother's aunt & her family actually lived about a mile down the road from that lady at the time of her murder. It's somewhere around Orangeburg, VA. They actually knew that lady and had seen her just a couple days before she was murdered. She was tied to a tree out in the woods behind her house and my mother's aunt had a similar-looking woody area out behind her house. It creeped them out so much that they moved to another part of the state about 10 months later. I know I wouldn't have been able to stay there another night had that happened right up the road from where I lived. Is that creepy or what?
