Question Direct TV or Dish Network?

Those people with satellites, what do you think of Direct TV or Dish Network? I would like opinions from both sides. Our cable sucks and a satellite is much cheaper, much more reliable, and has a lot more channels than cable.

Thanks!

I can't add much more except that I agree 100%.

I love DirecTV. Glad I have it and couldn't imagine having cable again, lol. I've had DirecTV for about 3 years now and not a complaint.

Does anyone have their high-speed internet access "DirecWAY?" That's really what is leading me towards Direct TV. Our cable and internet go out sometimes for no reason(it'll be a perfect weather day too). It's SO annoying.

I have neither. Time Warner Digital Cable rocks (at least here in San Diego). I have all the great channels plus it has a digital recorder which is like Tivo but is tons better. Unlike Tivo, it can record two programs at once and it doesn't skip or anything. My family is very happy with it.

I have Dish Network and I think it's great. Awesome picture, only goes out when it rains heavily, and the menus are easy to navigate.

My aunt had Direct TV and said it sucked. The picture was always going out, it wasn't as clear as it should have been, and the customer service people left a little to be desired.

I have Dish Network and I like it. It's easy to use, cheaper than Charter, they send us free pay-per-view tickets, they give us lots of free movie weekends, and there's even a dish interactive channel where you can read the news, or your horiscope, or even play video games. There just recently added Bingo to channel 104 and you can win prizes.

Charter is what I have now. Worst service I have EVER seen. Cable One was better than this. At least it didn't go out unless the weather was REALLY bad.

I have Dish Network, I love it as well. The prices, quality, and even the costumer service is great! LOL... and they offer us free pay-per-view and HBO/Cinemax all the time!

Do you have one of those digital cable boxes or whatever they are? I think those things are difficult to use! When they switched from regular cable over to the digital, they didn't know what they were doing and half the people in my town didn't have TV. There's a lot of elderly people in my town and they still haven't figured out how to use their cable box and the Charter people never helped them.

Thumbs down

I don't have digital cable, I have just plain old cable. They do offer digital cable, but the price is much higher, and we decided to not go that way. The price for regular cable is low, we get 77 channels for $30 a month but it's unreliable. There's no guarantee it'll be working at anytime. What sucks worse is that because I have cable internet, when the cable goes out, so does the internet.

Oh and Charter's customer service is even worse. When it does go out, I always call them soon after it goes out and all I get is "it'll be back on when it comes back on"

I have DirecTV, and my TiVo works just fine on it. Actually, I thought DirecTV was the only program you could have with TiVo. Oh, well...learn something new every day, I suppose.
