Have ya'll seen this? It was on VH1 Saturday night at 10:00 i believe. I taped it. They had music artists & dancers from the 70's on there talkin about the disco era. Deborah Harry, Maurice White of Earth Wind & Fire, Nile Rodgers of Chic, Gloria Gaynor, this black lady that was in the group A Taste Of Honey was on there & so was KC of KC & The Sunshine Band. They also talked about the famous Studio 54 club in New York that was owned by Steve Rubell & some other dude. People talked about the famous celebrities that were in that club like Liza Minnelli, Michael Jackson, Brooke Shields, Robert De Niro, Donna Summer, Al Pacino. They were saying how there was so much free sex & drugs going on in that club. LOL@Steve Rubell getting Studio 54 shut down & raided by the cops for tax evasion. How could a person make all that money & not wanna pay their taxes? I saw the movie 54 with Mike Myers, Neve Campbell, Salma Hayek that was about Studio 54 club. That club was off the hook. Gloria Gaynor said that her Never Can Say Goodbye song was 19 minutes long & she said she didn't sing that long on the song. I can't believe that song was a disco track & her I Will Survive song was a disco track too. How can u dance off both of those songs? Those songs aren't fast enough. People also talked about Donna Summer's Love To Love U Baby song saying she moaned on the song for like 5 minutes LOL.

As a former disco diva they're right when they said that we danced to those songs.
Disco was a fabulous time. A time that I will never forget. It was magical...

Who sang Never Can Say Goodbye first? Gloria Gaynor, Issac Hayes, The Jackson 5?

This white guy that used to be a doorman for Studio 54 club in New York said that one time there was this woman who was standing outside the club when it was cold trying to get in & Steve Rubell who was the owner told her to take off her shirt & her bra if she wanted to get in the club. So the doorman said that Steve started laughin & she just stood there in the cold & her nipples got frost bitten hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. He said Steve never let her in & she had to go to the hospital. That's cold blooded. The doorman also said that this man tried to get into the club from this building next door & he got caught in the wall trying to walk through the wall to get into Studio 54 & he died. Damn, people were desperate to try to get into that club. I would've went to another club. Steve Rubell was a a**hole. U don't make people stand outside like that for long periods of time just to get into a club. Nile Rodgers of Chic said that his group was invited to Studio 54 one time by Grace Jones. So when they tried to get into the club, the doormen wouldn't let them in so Nile got pissed off & said f**k off. Nile said he went home to his apartment around the corner from the club with his band & they made the song Le Chic(Freak Out) which became a big hit. The song was actually gonna be called F**k Off cause Nile was using the song for inspiration for not gettin in Studio 54.

I know it's so cool to bash disco, but I would gladly take Donna Summer, Abba and The Bee Gees over most of the "classic rock" bands who were so cool at the same time in the late 1970's. I'd certainly rather listen to I Will Survive over Smoke On The Water, but that's just me

I dont know why people hate disco so much. I happen to like it. Donna Summer is one of my favorite artists from that time period. I did happen to catch her little segment on the show. All they did was talk about "Love To Love You Baby" and let her moan for about 2 minutes. Theres much more to her than that. Anyways...yeah...I like the music from that era.

You can tell the mark of a classic song when all you have to do is remix the song and it becomes a dance smash all over again. Donna Summer's I Feel Love has been re-remixed several times over the years, and it recharted on the dance chart EACH TIME, proving that even if the song came out in 1977, it still has what it takes to get people out on the floor. |

The reason we would wait outside is because we would go club hopping. From one to the other. Everybody was talking about this famous place so we (as dummies) would wait to see if they would let us in. |
