VICTIM OF LOVE: THE SHANNON MOHR STORY
Director: John Cosgrove Year film was made: 1993 Genre: Drama Stars: Bonnie Bartlett and Dwight Schultz Based on the true story of Shannon Mohr, who married the captivating Dave Davis after only two months of dating. After Shannon was fully insured, Dave cleverly staged a horseback-riding accident, thinking he would be able to collect the insurance money guilt-free, but Shannon's parents insisted that their daughter was murdered and fought to bring Dave to justice. I wish that they would release this movie on dvd. . |

There is nothing captivating about David Richard Davis. He is a manipulative individual who considered Shannon Mohr as a source for generating wealth. Mohr was an heir to the Mohr Brothers Pop bottling fortune. The life insurance policy was the icing on a very rich cake. Davis used his experience in terms of age and their love of horses to devise a scheme to murder his new wife. He used a tranquilising drug to murder her and claimed she fell from a horse and hit her head on a rock. Then he fled to Samoa to avoid justice.

Just curious shanonmohr ....why would you name yourself after the victim in this case?
Are you related to her somehow? I have to agree that there is little captivating about the killer but it is an interesting case and very sad. |

The Shannon Morh case.... that one is very close to home to me seeing that it happened in my state but still about 100 miles from where I live.
I'm just glad David was captured. |

Well I am brining this up because I was trying to find some more info on the case and I found an article on it from 2001. Apperantly in 2001 Davis broke his silence on the case. He claims he is innocent and that he didnt kill her. He also questioned the accuracy of the tests used to determine the drug that was supposedly injected into Shannon. It is interesting but I just dont believe Davis. I would maybe be more inclined to believe him but if he was innocent why would he use an alias? Why would he flee to American Samoa? Also why would he lie about having Shannon insured and if he wasnt a con man why would he lie about serving in Vietnam as well as being an orphan? In the letter it mentioned he had also failed to tell Shannon that he had been married once before and that he had two daughters. Shannon didnt find out about that until a week before her death. As of 2001 Shannon's parents were still alive. This is a pretty interesting article:

Lucille Mohr passed away a few years back, I believe Shannon's dad is still alive however. I would like to see this film too, I had no idea John Cosgrove was involved in its production (interesting) but I would love to see Dwight Schultz's (Murdock on "The A-Team") portrayal of Dave Davis.
From watching both the "Unsolved Mysteries" segment and the "American Justice" episode and the physical evidence pertaining to the drugs that were injected into Mohr's body as well as the well connected chain of events establishing both motive and opportunity, there is no doubt in my mind that Dave Davis is the right man rotting away in prison for the murder of his wife. I think Lucille Mohr said during the segment prior to Davis' apprehension "The authorities have to catch Davis before he does it again and believe me he will" - I have no reason to doubt her words or theory. I believe Dave Davis was/is a sociopath. |
