rare Lucy 1964 pic and other stuff

My brother is a radio freak. Anything that has to with radio, he'll spend hours reading it.

He did however found something that was interesting. A website from Virginia called btvonline.net , on the first page of it features Lucille Ball when she appeared on a local radio station there back in 64.

I have heard over the years about her making an appearance in Virginia and supposed to have made comments there about how she felt that by having the kids on the Lucy Show was a "mistake" and how the reruns of I Love Lucy were more popular than many of the then CBS daytime game shows. I heard that one before.

When I attended the Lucy-Desi days in Jamestown NY a few years back one of the authors (forgot which one) was asked about her "Virginia interview". I remember he saying that how he wished he had the tape of it but from all reports, other that a few pics, none exists.

Back in the 60s and 70s, a lot of local stations used to air local talk shows and often when a major star stops by, they tend to get more personal than doing a national interview. Such as Bob Crane from Hogans Heroes using sexual jokes and getting foul on a local cooking show just before he was murdered.

Oh..the website has quite a bit of videos and audios (airchecks) on it, local commercials and newscasts from the DC/Baltimore area. Cool to see Yogi Bear again.

That was in the movie "Auto Focus." I was shocked that stuff like that happened.
