How Did Mr. Big Get His Nickname? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I missed that episode. Why did Carrie decide to start calling him that in the first place? Did he not want to tell her his real name? I don't know the premise behind that.
And one more thing, did Carrie ever know his real name and they just never mentioned it to viewers? Or did she not know his name this whole time until the final episode???!! DO TELL!!!

I'm so dying to know.

In the first episode Samantha pointed him out to her at the club and was like "You see him? He's the next Donald Trump. Only younger and much better looking." and then she went to hit on him and Carrie's little voice over thing was "And Samantha was off to take her best shot with Mr. Big."
I think she knew what his name was but they wanted to keep it a secret. That's why every time he'd call her he'd just say "It's Me" or when she introduced him to someone a cup of coffee was spilled on him (Heh heh heh)

I've always wondered about that (and definitely noticed that they were trying to cover his name up when they spilled coffee on him when introducing him to Aidan!) I should've caught on that THAT would be the last scene in the series! It made SOO much sense and gave a LOT of satisfaction! SJP said it right on Oprah: it was a little thing, but it meant a lot.

i always woundered why to, i think that yea carrie knows it, but i think that it's funny how they call him "mr. big"
