Default Jump The Shark -- music style!

as pretty much everyone in here knows, "Jump the Shark" is a very popular game we play with tv shows we feel are past their prime. How about musicwise, when would you say certain artists you like "jumped the shark"

For example:
Phil Collins : one word- Sussudio (I did like a few tracks off the Invisible Touch album, but this was when Phil made the transition from rock star to AC artist that your mom loves)

I know this isn't true for a lot of people, but for me, Michael Jackson jumped the shark when he turned into a white girl.

Don't jump all over me, now.

That is funny!!!!

I was a Phil Collins fan too, until he started doing the Disney soundtrack stuff.

My other favorite group used to be Journey until they replaced their lead singer with Steve Augeri.

I think the Spice Girls jumped when Geri Halliwell left the group. I stopped buying their albums after Geri left. I always thought she had the best voice of the group.

The Beach Boys jumped the shark with "15 Big Ones," jumped back with "Love You," and re-jumped the shark permanently with "M.I.U. Album."

I haven't heard anything about the Spice Girls in years. I remember I was in 6th or 7th grade when they were all the rage. I always wondered what happened to them.

they split up (tho there was never an actual announcement, but everyone including them admits it's over) after their 2000 flop album "Forever". All 5 of them have had reasonable success in the UK, Emma just had a top 10 there a week or two back.

Victoria (Posh) is probably the most famous member, as she is the wife of David Beckham, who is the biggest soccer star in the world. So in the UK, the tabloids are to them the way our tabloids were towards "Bennifer"

When the Backstreet Boys released Chapter One: Greatest Hits... they clearly jumped the shark. They put a stop to their career even before listeners did.

What was wrong with that CD? I own it and LOVE it. Why did you say what you said?

The 4-part musical documentry "The History of Hip-Hop" on Music Choice channels never jumped the shark. It was hosted by DJ Damin Dee in which chronicles the history of rap music from "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang to "Ain't Nothing But a 'G' Thing" by Dr. Dre.
