I honestly love sitcoms from the 50's-90's, some are better than others but as a rule, most shows were great back then. After that things went downhill. The shows of today don't do a thing for me. Just my humble opinion.

Pretty much anything that falls outside the era of multi-cam videotaped in color in front of a live audience isn't going to appeal to me. Okay, so sitcoms multi-cam filmed in color in front of a live audience can work too.
But I really can do without how most sitcoms were made in the late 50s/60s, single cam and in a studio, and most modern sitcoms are done the same way these days. Only difference is they added in a laugh track in the 60s and they don't do that these days. Either way, the outcome is less satisfying than multi-cam in front of a studio audience. I like hearing the audience laughter. Comedies with laughter lift my spirits up. Somehow it makes me happier and it feels like a party is going on when there's audience involvement in the proceedings. |

I don't really get out a lot. When I do go out, I couldn't be happier. I love being in a nice milieu. I'm as happy as a clam. Just as long as I'm not in some club playing hip-hop. You hear that sort of thing in a lot of places. That's not my milieu. Rock and roll is good-time music. I love rock. So did my parents. |

Feels like the only sitcoms I could probably watch from the 50s is I Love Lucy and maybe Dennis the Menace. I'm all about wholesome TV, but the shows from that decade are just too wholesome and syrupy sweet for me.
I don't really find myself watching too many 2000s-2010s sitcoms either, except for 30 Rock, unless you want to count Orange is the New Black. |
