That night, Jinny walked into her apartment, calling Teddy’s name. When she got no response, she walked to her bedroom and put her badge and gun holster on her bed, starting to unbutton her shirt, when the phone rang.
“Hello?” she answered breathlessly after running from the back of her apartment and searching for the portable phone.
“Hey Jinny Girl.”
“Hey Dad. What’s going on?” she asked.
“Nothing. I just wanted to see if you’d like to come over for dinner on Sunday night.” Jinny’s dad asked.
“Umm…sure,” she said. “Dad, is it alright if Teddy comes too? We kind of have something to tell you.”
“Sure, Jin.” He said, smiling. He was already sensing that she was going to tell him that Teddy had proposed.
“Well, Dad, I was just getting in the shower, so can I let you go?” she asked.
“Yeah, honey. I’ll talk to you later. Bye.”
“Bye.”
Jinny got back in the shower, washed and dried herself and got ready for the late night.

Magda walked into her apartment that she now shared with Gabe and noticed what a mess it was. She didn’t really care, because she still had to get ready for the night out with Gabe. She couldn’t wait to see where they were going, although she knew that she wouldn’t have cared where they went, as long as she was with him.

CD walked into her empty apartment, and unlike the others, she knew that it was going to be empty all night long. She hated that feeling, and she hated how she always compared herself to the other inspectors. Every time that she thought about how bad her love life was, she used to always think that Jinny’s was ten times worse. Now, Jinny had the sweetheart named Teddy to go home to, and she had no one. She thought briefly of calling Nate, but decided against it. She didn’t want to sound desperate and knew that she would if she called him.

Teddy walked into the apartment that he now shared with Jinny, calling for her. Jinny didn’t hear him because she was in the bathroom, blow drying her hair, wrapped in a towel. Jinny hadn’t looked at the door, so she hadn’t noticed her fiancé entering, so Teddy snuck up on her, scaring her.
“Boo!” Teddy yelled, smiling at her from behind, into the mirror.
“Oh, my god, Teddy! You scared the crap out of me!” Jinny said, turning towards him and playfully hitting him.
“Aw, I’m sorry.” Teddy replied, giving her a puppy dog look.
“You’re forgiven.” She said, smiling at him, kissing him. Her hands, around his neck at first, moved slowly to his jacket, removing it. Teddy started backing out of the bathroom, towards the bedroom.
“You know,” Teddy said, breaking off the kiss. “We’re not getting a very good start at moving.”
“You think I care?” Jinny said, smiling, resuming the kiss, leading Teddy to the bedroom.

As CD was calling in for Chinese, Nate was thinking about calling her. He really wanted to talk to her about their so-called relationship, but he wasn’t really sure how to approach the subject. He picked up the phone, dialed and listened as the phone rang.

CD, on the phone with the Chinese food place, heard the beep, signaling that she had another call coming in. ‘Well…you’ll have to wait,’ she thought, and finished ordering her dinner.

When CD didn’t answer her phone, Nate was just sure that she was avoiding him. ‘Damn it, Nate. You screwed up again,’ he told himself, sitting on his couch and burying his face in his hands.

CD hung up the phone, picked back up and pressed *69. (Caller ID, that’s the number here, I don’t know what it is elsewhere!) As she listened to the number, she realized that it was Nate’s and laughed out loud. She should have figured. She was still laughing as she dialed his number.
“Hello?” Nate asked.
“Hey, you called?” CD asked.
“Yeah, I figured you were avoiding me. What’s so funny?” he asked.
“Nothing. I was ordering Chinese. Want to come over and share?” she invited him.
“Sure. Let me check my schedule,” he says, humming. “Well…I have an opening on…January 1st, 2056.”
“Oh, shut up. You coming over or not?”
“Yup. Be there in 15 minutes.”
“Bye.” CD said and hung up the phone, smiling.

Kate was getting ready to leave for the weekend. She looked around at her desk to see if she was missing anything. She always took a shoulder bag full of work home with her, and she was making sure that she wasn’t forgetting a piece of important information. She remembered her date with Ross and smiled, knowing she wouldn’t have much time for paperwork.

Magda and Gabe sat in a restaurant on the other side of the city from Kate. Work was definitely the farthest thing from Magda’s mind.
“So, how was your day?” Gabe asked.
“Pretty good. Kind of slow. How was yours?”
“Alright. But I didn’t get to see you all day.” Gabe said.
“Aw. What do you want?” Magda asked playfully.
“Just you.” Gabe said, and kissed her.
“Really. The feeling is definitely mutual,” Mag said. “What do you say we skip the dancing part tonight?”
“I say that’s a really good idea.”
They ate the rest of their candlelit dinner in the quiet restaurant and went home.

Jinny and Teddy were just leaving Jinny’s apartment as Magda and Gabe were walking into their apartment.
“Jin, I love you.” Teddy said, gazing into her eyes at the stoplight.
“Love you too, but if we’re ever going to get there, you better go.” She said, glancing at the light.
“Oh, right. Good idea.” Teddy said, laughing.
They arrived at Teddy’s apartment and Jinny looked around, surprised. She had been here before, but never with it looking so bare.
“Teddy, is there anything left to pack?” she asked, doubtfully. “Looks like you’ve got it all.”
“Well…I still have to pack my clothes. Have you thought about where I’m going to put them all?”
“Ooh, that’s probably not such a bad thing to start thinking about, huh?” she asked, looking guilty.
“Jin, is there any room for my stuff?”
“Yeah, of course,” Jinny said. She could tell Teddy didn’t believe her. “and if not, we can always make room. Don’t worry about a thing.”
“I’m trying, but it’s not so easy with you being the one leading this.”
“Are you questioning my ability?”
“Yup.”
“You’re gonna have to pay.” Jinny said, plopping down on the couch, where Teddy sat too.
“Oh, really. How are you going to make me?” Teddy asked.
“Oh, you’ll see.” Jinny replied with a smirk, leaning in to kiss him.

CD and Nate were busy eating their Chinese food when the phone rang. Although CD was thinking, ‘Who calls this late?’ she pretended people called at 10:30 all the time.
“Hello?”
“CD, it’s the Captain. Do you know where Nate is?” Kate asked. She had realized that she needed to talk to him before she left, but he was gone.
“Umm…” was CD’s response, unsure of whether or not to tell the Cap about her and Nate.
“Do you know where he is?” the Cap repeated.
“Yeah, I do. He’s here.” She came right out with it.
“OK, can I talk to him?” Captain asked, acting as though it was no big deal.
“Yeah, sure.” She said, handing the phone to Nate. Nate wiped his mouth with his hand, causing CD to say, “That’s gross, Nate.”
“I know.” He replied with an evil grin. He mouthed, Who is it?
CD mouthed back, ‘The Cap.’
Nate’s mouth made an ‘O’ as he spoke into the phone.
“Hey Cap. What can I do for you?” he asked.
“Nate, I need to ask you something. Is there some way that you can get away from CD?”
“Yeah…hold on.” Nate said, looking at CD and raising his eyebrows. ‘Be right back’ he mouthed and headed for her bedroom.
“OK, what is it?” Nate was not happy about being torn away from her, but he had to do what he had to do.
“Is there something going on between you and CD?” Kate asked.
“Gee, no beating around the bush with you, is there?” Nate said sarcastically.
“I only ask because if it’s going to interfere with your work, it needs to stop, or you’ll find yourself with a new partner. Besides, CD would never tell me.” So that was her reason for asking him instead of CD.
“Nope. Nothing at all. We were just eating dinner and going over our case. Why?”
“On a Friday night? Why does this surprise me?”
“I had an opening in my date book. A cancellation.” Nate said.
“Really. You’d better hope that you’re not lying.”
“You have nothing to worry about, Cap. Bye.” He hung up and said, “I’m going to hell.”

Teddy broke off the kiss and stood up.
“At this rate, we’ll be all moved in next year!” Teddy said, throwing his hands in the air.
“We wouldn’t want that, now would we?” Jinny replied, seductively.
“Come on.” Teddy coaxed her onto her feet. “We’ve got to get a move on. If you want me to live with you, then we have some major packing to do.”
“Why? You’ve already done everything!” Jinny said. All she wanted was Teddy back on the couch. “It’s just a matter of putting everything in my car and yours, and carting it to my apartment.”
“I still have things to take care of. You can stay here if you want, but I have to go pack some more of my clothes.”
“Ok, where’s the TV?” Jinny asked, not looking at Teddy. He couldn’t believe how non-responsive she was being. “Come on, Teddy. Lighten up. If we’re going to have dinner with my dad and brother on Sunday, you’re gonna have a lot of work to do!”
“Why? What could possibly be so bad?”
A grunt from Jinny was his response. “You don’t want to know.”

Kate hung up her cell phone with Nate and looked behind her, waiting for Ross to arrive at the restaurant. She knew there was something going on with CD and Nate. She just needed to find out more about it before she made any more accusations. The problem with them being a couple had barely anything to do with the work, it was Kate’s problem. She was too nosy and needed to know everything that went on between her inspectors. She had made up the part about needing to find new partners so he’d tell her. It hadn’t worked, needless to say.
Ross showed up 5 minutes late, but Kate didn’t mind. He walked in the door and looked around the crowded restaurant, looking for Kate.
“Ross, over here!” Kate stood up and said loudly.
He made his way over to her, dodging a few people. “Hey! How are you?” he asked as he kissed her cheek.
“I’m good. How are you?”
“OK, considering.”
“Considering what?” the instincts she had told her that sounded wrong.
“Considering I haven’t seen you in about a week,” Ross said.
“Oh, that.” Kate said, somewhat letdown that it hadn’t been a bigger problem.
“Yeah, that. Kate, I wasn’t going to say anything about that to you, but we need to see each other more often. It’s killing me.”
“Well, that’s certainly not all my fault, you know.” Kate pointed out.
“No, it’s not yours at all, in fact. It’s Louis’.”
Kate gave an exasperated sigh. “Why did you have to bring him up?”
“Because he’s evidently causing problems in our relationship. Has he called you lately?”
“Yeah, he asked me to Magda’s wedding.”
“I thought that you said they didn’t have a date picked out yet.” Ross said, accusingly.
“They didn’t, a week ago when I last talked to you.” Kate said.
“Oh. Well, what did you say?”
“I said that I already have a date. I do, don’t I?” she asked.
“Oh yes, I forgot.” Ross said with a smile, obviously forgetting all about Louis, for the moment.
