It was a slow day for crime, which was beneficial to the CD/Nate duo, who
wouldn’t have been able to handle anything too big. Kate could see the air
dancing in their heads, thinking it was due to both of their break-ups,
according to Raina’s gossip.
Early evening when they were getting ready to sign out, CD asked Nate,
“What are you doing tonight?”
“I’m going home and planning. Why?”
“You want to have dinner with me?” she questioned him.
He grinned and shook his head. “No thank you,” he replied, “I don’t
deserve to be in your presence yet because I haven’t fulfilled your
deeds.”
She rolled her eyes. “It was a joke,” she lied. “Those things don’t
matter, so come eat with me!”
“Nope, sorry,” he told her giving her a friendly hug. “You asked for
it, you’re getting it. I have to prove to you that I can keep my promises,
and I will do always do anything you need to me to.”
She pouted. “I need you to have dinner with me,” she simply
stated.
No one was looking, so he kissed her forehead. “Not tonight,
sweety, but can I ask a question?”
She sighed, knowing she’d lost. “Sure, anything,” she muttered
unhappily.
He grinned at her pouty looks. “Can I have the key to your
apartment?”
“You won’t have dinner with me, but you want the key to my bed?”
He smiled. “No, actually I want the key to your heart, so I need the
key to your apartment to drop something off late tonight,” he explained. “And I don’t want to say anymore because that would ruin the surprise.”
She nodded. “Fine,” she replied and opened her desk for her extra
set of keys. “Here ya go,” she told him and threw them at him.
“Thank you, sweety,” he responded. “You know you’re absolutely
beautiful when you’re mad at me?”
She tried to keep him from seeing her grinning. “Shut up,” she
muttered, and couldn’t help but smile.
He laughed and kissed her once more. “I’ll talk to you later then,”
he replied and started to leave.
“Hey Nate?” CD called after him.
“What is it?” he asked her.
“Tonight, if you want to wake me,” she paused, blushing, “wake
me.”
He grinned, nodded and quickly left the division, so he wouldn’t
give up his promise and end up taking her to dinner.

WOW, it's been AGES since I've been here!! Or ya know, a day and a half. LOL, anyway!, here's some more!!

“What is it?” he asked her.
“Tonight, if you want to wake me,” she paused, blushing, “wake
me.”
He grinned, nodded and quickly left the division, so he
wouldn’t give up his promise and end up taking her to dinner.


That night, CD camped out in her recliner, forcing herself to
stay awake for him. She channel surfed for over an hour, ate some of
the rotini she’d made earlier, listened to some music, but could
never quite hear the words, so finally she turned on the late night
news, falling asleep a little after 2.
Nate had been out most of the night, reserving, buying, and
scheming. He’d finally made a purchase he was a happy with, and
he went home to wrap it to waste time before he went to her house.
At 2:30 he decided it was late enough and walked upstairs to
CD’s apartment. He very quietly opened and shut her door, seeing the
sweetest thing in the world as soon as he entered the living room.
CD was sprawled out in the chair, her legs hanging over the
side and her mouth was slightly open. Her hair had drooped across
her eyes, and she had started to shiver.
Nate grinned and sat her gift down on the coffee table and
took the pink roses he got her to her bedroom. He came back to see
she hadn’t moved, so he gently went to her and picked her up.
CD didn’t even flinch, she was that asleep. He carried her to
her bed and laid her softly down. “I’ll be right back,” he whispered.
Nate then went back to the living room to get the gift and
placed it at the foot of her bed. “Sweet dreams, honey,” he said
delicately and kissed her forehead. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

The next morning CD’s alarm clock rang to early for her. “Damn
stupid thing,” she muttered as she hit it and realized she was in her
bed. “How in the hell did I get here?” she mumbled, sitting up.
CD smiled when she saw the gift. She reached down at the
bottom of her bed to pick it up, and on her way back, she noticed the
flowers. She blushed, even though she knew he wasn’t there still.
“That man is too good to be true,” she said as she opened up the
box. In it was a dress and a card.
She stood up to examine it and pull it out of the box. The dress
was a maroon ankle length phenomena with slits cut up both sides.
The chest of it was a deep V neck, and her face reddened just thinking
about being in it.
She opened the card to read.

~CD:
I know this dress isn’t normally what you would choose because
you’re much too conservative, but tonight’s the night to let your hair
down and show off every flawless curve of your body. I wanted to pick
something even more sensual, but I knew you would refuse. By the
way, this is the part of our deal. This covers the “something you never
thought I do for you.” Before I met you, I, myself, never thought I’d be
buying any dress for a woman!
I love you, CD. I hope you realize that. I will see you later today.

P.S. By the way you’re not going to work today. Kate and I discussed,
and we came to the conclusion that you and I need the day off. Go back to bed, I’m sure you were up late, and be ready to leave by noon.
Wear nice clothes to start with and pack a bag with your dress; you’re
about ready to get part two- your surprise.~

CD grinned and reread the card four times. She was much too
excited to go back to bed, so she went ahead and packed an overnight
bag and sat it by the door. She tried on the dress and decided that
even though she was skeptical at first, loved it very much.
She puttered around the house, cleaning and wasting time before
noon came. She called Nate’s cell phone and house, just to get a hint
as to what they were doing. Both places he didn’t answer. She sighed
and sat down, waiting impatiently for her noon arrival.
