There is no HARD scientific facts supporting that theory either... that is a theory. You have the same "faith" in this "fairy tale" as what you say we have. It is all a matter of the heart. The Bible is full of mysteries... Adam and Eve's children had wives.. where did they come from? How did Noah and his family created life again when they were the only ones left after the Great Flood. No one knows. Only God. What I DO KNOW is that God created me for a purpose, and that purpose wasn't to make money and leave my children behind lots of money. It was to live for Him and to share the Word with non-believers. That is my purpose for being here. The choice to accept Him is completely yours.

I know I said I was leaving the thread, but I didn't mean that I wasn't going to read it anymore and I saw this post and just had to reply:
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even though this post probably won't do any good, JoJoJoJoJoJoJoJoJo, you have a nice way of putting things.
I'm only going to reply to posts like the above or if I feel there is something God is leading me to say.

Well since you're leaving (not because you're a sissy of course...it's just evident you can't explain virgin birth, etc. I get it... ) then I can't ask you what you did that you need to be "saved." Man...sounds serious!! Did it involve jail time? Anyway, babies are born atheists. Put a group of toddlers of all faiths in a playgroup and they have a GREAT time. They don't quibble over this nonsense. They have to TAUGHT this stuff from parents, or babble-school or whathaveyou. All the world's pain, violence and suffering has a root of RELIGION. There isn't just ONE God, there are hundreds, according to the world's believers. For Christians to say "There is ONLY ONE GOD!" is not only arrogant, it's downright disrespectful to any higher power they profess to believe in. Such is the "Fundy-Christian" way of getting their point across:

The Bible Says So!!

You Need to be SAVED!!!

There is ONLY ONE LORD!!

Phhht!!

I haven't heard of such a thing. There are theories about paranormal events, but proof? Not that I know of. Unless you're watching those "Fox" specials that claim there really was a "Great Caesar's GHOST!" :eek!: But I will say that the only way I personally will believe in ghosts is if one jumps out and bites my ass. Then I may consider it. Hear that, ghosts???!!

It is obvious that you have never once studied the Bible or looked deeper into Christianity. It is obvious that you were "taught" this way of belief. Who is to say that your way of thinking is better than ours? We are SAVED from our SINS. Mary gave virgin birth because God decided that the time Jesus was to be born was at a time when Mary WAS NOT married. If Mary had had sex with Joseph to make that child, the child would have been born in sin (sex before marriage is a sin-fornification (sp?)) Joseph and Mary were both scared to death; Joseph was going to leave Mary, but God TESTED THEIR FAITH and told Joseph to stay with Mary, and he did, and he was blessed greatly. Jesus was born to a virgin mother to SET HIM APART; to show what miracles God could create, because up to this point only a hand ful of people worshipped God, most people worshipped idols. Children are Gods gift to us. Therefore we are suppose to take that gift and give it back to the Lord by teaching it about the love of God, nurchering (sp) him/her with God's love, and teaching it from the word of God. RELIGION may be the root of evil, but God is NOT religion. God is love. In heaven there will be NO RELIGION, but only a constant surrounding of God and his love and people that love and follow him. There are tons of god's out there... but only one GOD (notice the captilization) gods are fictious characters in greek stories, God is our father. I do not sit here and make fun of other people because they do not believe in what I believe in (unlike what you are doing). I pray for them and reach to them when God makes them ready. God gave us free will. Sometimes it is ourselves who make our hearts too hard to accept his love.

Where did I say my beliefs are "better than yours??" If anything, you're trying to get me to be on your side and believe there is only ONE GOD. Why is YOUR God the ONLY one?? That's very arrogant of you to assume, isn't it? "Make fun"? Nope, just pointing out some silly things. I must have hit your achilles heel though. Does challenging your own belief system make you uncomfortable? Seems like it does. So-- I was a "Christian" until I examined the absurdity of it all--the ridiculousness of virgin birth, and a man- ghost in the sky answering people's prayers etc. etc. The story of Joseph and Mary is obviously (for the intelligent person who knows where babies come from )pure fiction. If your cousin or sister came to you one afternoon and said "Guess what!? I am pregnant! And I never had sexual intercourse with a human man!!" you'd have her locked up in a mental ward. If you saw someone claiming he prayed to a Purple BunnyRabbit in the park and things came true, you'd probably have that person sent to a mental ward as well. But because this religious stuff has been perpetuated, through repetition of myth, for 2000 years, people keep believing it. The major reason people believe in God is because THEY ARE AFRAID **NOT TO.** In your post you speak of fornication as being sinful. But it's OK for "God" to RAPE the fiance of another man in order to beget a child?????. That my friend goes beyond faith into "loopy-land." Explain your way outta that one...how does GOD get away with rape and fornication when he says it's WRONG???? When did Mary have a say in all this stuff (if you believe it, of course...which I don't)? Did God give Mary Child support payments? Why did God have his only son die a slow painful and bloody death. This "God" sounds like a real shmuck to me. He shouldn't call himself a man at all. And-- I ain't buyin'.....

Loopy-Land?

Believing that everything that we know today; planent earth, animals, plants, the universe, the billions and billions of galaxies in space, the sun and the moon how they seem to set and rise perfectly, our brains, how they work in ways that we do not even completely know about yet; that all of that came from a tiny spec of dust that blew up. That to me is "loopy-land".

I believe in God. I believe the Bible is the Word of God. I am sorry that your only response to that is "loopyland", but I suppose that just shows where you are "uncomfortable" having your belief challenged.

What...you chose to just read that one line in my post above? Because I presented a FULL post. That was not my "only response." It was the line you chose to remark upon because *you have NO response to what I said!* So lemme get this straight: You don't believe in specs of dust forming the earth, but you believe there was a MAN-GHOST hangin' around in the sky (for how long? Billions of years?) just waiting to create the earth and all its creatures (even though they're STILL discovering new species of animals and insects TO THIS DAY)....in 6 days. Okeeeee! BTW, since I HAVE no belief (atheists suspend the belief in gods and goddesses), it *cannot be challenged* because it doesn't *exist.* I am FULLY comfortable with anyone asking me questions and I can FULLY defend myself. You haven't gotten that concept yet...and that's ok, really. You didn't answer my queries on virgin birth, so obviously that has puzzled you....probably the part in which I asked you to relate it to today and put a friend in the pregnancy scenario. I asked, and you didn't answer, this question:

:
Quote:
how does GOD get away with rape and fornication when he says it's WRONG????
If God is omnipotent....and still potent (he may need some Viagra at this point because he's....how old now?? Well...older than George Burns! ) he COULD knock up another mortal woman without her consent AGAIN in the middle of the night. So you'd better be on birth control if you're female and Christian! Woo! Scary thought!! The only real religious truths I know are:

a. Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah.
b. Protestants do not recognize the Pope as the leader of the Christian
faith.
c. Baptists do not recognize each other in the liquor store or at
Hooters

How true is THAT!

Well maybe that's your problem...you see...that's NOT what happened. Some science books at the library or a glance at the information posted in this thread may help you: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/...threadid=73225

Everything you've written has been well said. You're obviously kicking the asses of the people who are debating you.

I can relate. I went to a Protestant Christian school 13 years. I was a Christian. Why? Because when you tell a 5 year old that if they don't believe in God, "You're going to burn in hell forever," of course they're going to believe. Not because they necessarily understand what you're having them believe, but because most 5 year olds don't have the mental capacity to question it. Eventually, it's going to become so ingrained in your mind that you're afraid not to believe it's true. (Known by most competent people as brainwashing.)

But in my opinion, the Bible is a bunch of B.S. Did you all know that the Bible says menstruation is impure and you're not supposed to have contact with a menstruating woman? And after a woman finishes menstruating she's supposed to take 2 doves to a priest?
