Jinny walks into the division, seeing that Magda isn’t back yet. After her lunch with Teddy, she drove around for awhile. She had to think about what had just happened at lunch that day. While driving around San Francisco, she knew she was heading for the bridge before she realized it. That’s where she always went to think, near the water by the Golden Gate Bridge. While sitting on the ground next to the shore, she realized that she really wanted to do this, the whole moving in with Teddy. She had had some doubts when she had left the restaurant, but now she was positive.

“Magda, I have some good news for you. You’re approximately five weeks pregnant.” Doctor Moore said to her patient.
“Thanks, Doctor.” Magda said. She was slightly in shock. She had known that this was a possibility, but it never registered until that moment. She was carrying a baby inside of her, again.
“What’s wrong? Isn’t that what you wanted?” the doctor asked her.
“I don’t know right now. I’ll really need to get used to this, you know?” Magda said.
“Yes. And remember, if you decide that you don’t want the baby, there’s always abortion or adoption.” The doctor reminded her.
“Thanks, but there’s no way that I could do that to my baby.” Magda said, as she headed towards the door. “I know that I’m going to keep the baby, but I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep my fiancé, if you know what I mean.” She added.
“Yeah, I understand.” The doctor replied as Magda left the office.

As soon as Magda walked into the division, Jinny jumped out of her seat. She had been wondering whether or not she was pregnant or not. Jinny walked over to Magda, who kept a straight face, staring at Jinny’s anxious one.
“Jin, I’ll talk to you in a minute. I gotta go tell Cap that I’m back.” Magda said to her best friend as she knocked on their Captain’s office door.
“Come in.” came the response from the other side of the door.
“Hey, Cap. I just wanted to let you know that I’m back from my doctor’s appointment.” Magda said, turning to leave.
“Magda, come in here and close the door please.”
Magda turns back around and closes the door behind her, taking a seat in a chair in front of Cap’s desk.
“Yeah?” she asked. She was anxious to get back out there and tell Jinny the news.
“Well? Aren’t you even going to tell me what’s going on?” Cap asked Magda.
“Alright. I am pregnant. About five weeks is what the doctor said.” Magda said.
“So, it’s for sure now?”
“Yup.”
“OK, I was just wondering.” Cap said, looking back down at her work, which Magda took as a sign that she was free to go, so she got up and left.
As she was walking to her desk, Jinny again jumped out of hers.
“So?” she asked.
“Yeah, I am. Five weeks, in fact.” Magda said, completely stone-faced.
“Oh god, Mag. This is great! Well, in a way I guess.” She knew that she was making a complete idiot out of herself, but she didn’t care. “Does Gabe know yet?”
“Nope. I’m going to tell him tonight. This time, he’d better stick around. So, what about your lunch date with Teddy?” She asked. It was just like Magda to think of other people’s problems before her own.
“Well, Teddy asked me to move in with him, and I accepted. We’re going to live at my apartment.” Jinny said.
“Jinny, that really is great! I’m so happy for you! Pretty soon, you’re going to be the one having the babies!” Magda said, embarrassing Jinny.
“Yeah, Mag, I’m sure.” Jinny said sarcastically.

After Magda and Jinny’s conversation was over, Magda sat at her desk. She had to think of a really good way to break this to Gabe. She could do it over paella, like she had made the night that he never showed up. She decided that paella was the thing that she was going to make. Now she had to worry about what to wear. It was already 3:30 and she’d called Gabe to tell him that dinner was set for about 6. She’d also been told by Cap that she was giving Mag the rest of the day off, so she picked up her purse and told Jin goodbye, and that she’d have her cell phone on and not to call unless it was an emergency.

Jinny, since her partner had been given the day off, decided to go home also. Once at her apartment, she called Teddy, whose number was still on her speed redial. She let it ring four times before the answering machine picked up. “Hey, it’s Theodore. You know what to do after the beep!”
Jinny left a message saying that she was home for the night and that she wanted to talk to him. Then she called him at work. She let this one ring twice before he picked up the phone. “Theodore Blumenthal.” He answered.
“Theodore, it’s Jinny. What are you doing?” she asked him.
“Hey, Jinny! I feel like I just saw you not too long ago! What’s up?” he asked her.
“Nothing, Magda got to go home early, and there was nothing to do, so I decided that I wanted to get home early too.”
“Really? So, do you want to help me move in tonight, or should we wait for another time?” Theodore asked. He didn’t want to force her into anything that she wasn’t ready for.
“Tonight’s great. I’ll cook something and we’ll have dinner, then I figured we’d drive to your apartment and pack.” She suggested.
“OK, what do you have in mind for dinner?” Teddy asked. He was excited about moving in with the love of his life and couldn’t wait.
“Probably just spaghetti, unless you have any special requests.” she sort of asked him.
“Nope, anything is just fine. But I really have to go now. I have one more meeting and then I’ll be home. I love you, bye.” He said, and hung up the phone.

Jinny replaced the cordless phone to its cradle on the table in the living room. Her new apartment was much better than her old one. Better surroundings, which Jinny didn’t really care about. Better location, which Jinny loved. Her move had gotten her closer to the Golden Gate Bridge and its surrounding waters. That was where she did her best thinking, and now she could basically walk down there anytime that she wanted. She still loved the pool, and thought about how much time she had before Teddy would be there. She figured a couple of hours, at the least. She had plenty of time for a swim, a shower, and spaghetti.

Magda slipped on a pair of tight jeans and an even tighter shirt. ‘Funny, that shirt didn’t used to be so tight,’ she thought to herself. Then she remembered. ‘I shouldn’t be gaining weight this fast! It’s only the fifth week!’ She realized that if she didn’t tell Gabe about the baby now, he’d find out other ways, for example, when her stomach started to bulge.

Walking out of her bedroom, having changed shirts, Magda walked past her cooking paella. She was nervous as to what the evening held for her, and she really had no idea what to expect from Gabriel. The last time she had gotten pregnant, she had known for sure that Gabe would stay by her side throughout the pregnancy. Of course, this was before she told him. Now, she wasn’t sure if he’d stay, so maybe he would. ‘Stop it, Magda. You’re gonna confuse yourself!’ she scolded herself, out loud, than she laughed at how stupid she sounded. ‘Good thing nobody’s here!’

Jinny walked across the living room to her bedroom, opened the door and walked over to her dresser. ‘This is your last few moments alone in this apartment.’ Jinny realized. ‘Oh well. You’ll like it better here with someone else to be with you all of the time.’ She tried to convince herself, but she wasn’t so sure now. Sure, she loved Teddy, but was she really ready for this kind of commitment? ‘Yeah, Jin, and marriage isn’t a big commitment at all!’ she thought to herself, sarcastically. As she stood in front of her dresser, getting her bathing suit out, she made up her mind about living with Teddy. She was going to go for it.

As Jinny was walking towards the door of her apartment, her towel in hand, the phone rang. ‘Ugh, anything else happens, I won’t have time!’ she thought.
“Hello?” Jinny said into the phone.
“Hey Jin. It’s Teddy. I was wondering if I could delay dinner a few hours. A client just came in. We really have to prepare for court tomorrow. Is that ok?” he asked.
“Sure. What time are you thinking?” she asked, knowing that it would give her more time to swim.
“Probably around 7:30, 8?” he suggested.
“That’s fine. I’m going to go for a swim, so if I’m still swimming when you get here, let yourself in.” Jinny knew that she wasn’t going to be swimming for that long, but she liked letting Teddy know that she had a life other than him.
“OK, well, I have to go. I’ll talk to you when I get there!” Teddy said. “I love you.”
“Love you, too. Bye.” She said, and hung up the phone.

Magda and Gabriel were seated at the dining room table at Magda’s apartment. Magda kept up the conversation, and put off telling Gabe about the baby.
”So, Gabe, how was Benjamin today?” She asked him.
“Oh, you know how he is. We drove past a strip mall and he wanted everything in every store window.” Gabe laughed.
“Yeah, he can be a real handful sometimes.” Magda said, gazing at Gabriel from across the table. She loved to see him laugh.
“So, what’s with the romantic dinner?” Gabe asked.
“Well, I have something I need to tell you, and I’m not exactly sure how you’re going to respond to it.” She came right out with it.
“Mag, you know that you can tell me anything.”
“I know, but this is different. Remember the time that Benjamin stayed over at my mom’s house? When you and I, well, you know?” she asked, trying to make him guess what she had to tell him.
“Yeah, I definitely remember that night.” Gabe said with a sheepish grin on his face.
“Well, that whole week, I didn’t take my birth control pills, and well, now… I’m pregnant.”

Jinny walked into her apartment at 6:30 and changed clothes. After she had started the pasta cooking on the stove, she sat down on the couch, tired. By the time 8:00 rolled around, dinner was ready. At 8:05, Teddy walked in the door, giving Jinny a kiss. When the kiss was over, Jinny asked,
“So…how was your day?”
“Good. OK, not good, but it’s better now that I’m here.” He replied, with his arms around Jinny’s waist.
“Really, that’s good. How come your day was bad?” she asked.
“Because people need to learn how to not be stupid.” He said.
“God, you sound like me!” Jinny exclaimed, kissing him. Her hands moved up to his face and hair as his hands stayed at her waist. As she broke off the kiss, she asked, grinning,
“Want to eat?”
“Sure, what’s for dessert?” he asked, giving her a look.
“Well…eat your supper, and you’ll find out.”

Back at Magda’s apartment, Gabe had just learned the news of Magda’s pregnancy. He was still apparently in shock, when after a few moments of silence, he looked up, grinning. Magda knew everything was going to be ok.
Gabe jumped out of his seat and grabbed Mag by the waist. “I can’t believe it! This is so great Mag!” he danced with her to music that only he could hear inside of his head, and they were both laughing very hard. Finally, they sat back in their seats, breathless.
“So, when are you due?” Gabriel finally spoke, still out of breath.
“January 17th.” She replied.
“Really, you’ve got it pinned down to the date and everything?” he asked.
“No. That’s what the tentative due date is. I hardly expect the baby to be born then, though. Benjamin was two weeks early.”
“OK, so we’re going to have a little baby at our wedding?” Gabe asked, in disbelief.
“No, Gabe. Our wedding is in June, the baby is due in January. We’ve got time.” She laughed.
“Yeah, I just thought that…well…you know. I don’t know this is all so exciting! Mag, I want you to know that this time, I’m staying…all the way. I love you and Ben so much, and the time that I have spent with you guys has been amazing. I really can’t wait for us to be married.” Gabe said.
“I love you, too, Gabe.” Magda replied, with tears in her eyes. She couldn’t have imagined this going any better. She got out of her seat and turned on the c.d. player, which was set to play a slow song.
“Would you like to dance?” she asked him.
“Isn’t that my line?” he asked back, but got up and put his hands on Mag’s waist while her arms were around his neck. Gabe bent down as Magda looked up and they met in a long, passionate kiss. They swayed to the music and continued kissing for awhile, and when the song was over, Mag followed Gabe into their bedroom.

Back at the Division, CD and Nate were just getting ready to leave after finishing the paperwork from the case which they had wrapped up today. They were both tired, and couldn’t wait to get out of the Division, where they had been all day.
“Hey, CD, can I see you for a minute?” Captain Kate McCafferty asked from the doorway of her office.
“Sure, Cap. Be there in a minute.” CD said, following the Cap to her office.
“CD, I’ll wait for you, ok?” Nate said.
“OK, you do that Nate.” She said, grinning. She was beginning to like him as more than a partner, but she had rules about dating partners. “What do you need, Cap?”
“Take a seat, CD. I just wanted to ask how things were going with Nate.”
“Good, why?”
“Well, you’ve gone through a few partners over the years, and I wanted to know if you thought that this was the one that you wanted to work with.”
“Yeah, Nate and I work well together, don’t you think?” CD asked.
“From what I’ve seen of your work together, it’s very good, and I hope to see that in the future also. Have a good night, CD.” Kate said, signaling CD’s departure.
“You too, Cap. Bye.” CD called over her shoulder.
“So, what did she want?” Nate asked, giving CD a look. “You’re in trouble, aren’t you? Yup, I knew it. CD cant stay out of trouble!”
“Oh, shut up, Nate. You really are immature.” And although she had tried to stay stern about it, she was grinning from ear to ear.
“Oh, you know you love me.” Nate said, joking around.

At Jinny’s apartment, Jinny and Teddy were almost done with dinner. Jinny knew that Teddy wanted to move in as soon as possible, so she brought it up.
“When do you want to move in?” she asked, very straightforward.
“Well, whenever we both have the time.” Teddy said.
“OK, how about this weekend?” she suggested. She really wanted Teddy to move in now, before she changed her mind altogether.
“That’s good. What’s the rush all of a sudden?”
“I just really want us to be together, you know?” she asked with a seductive glance, leaning across the table to kiss him.
“Yeah, the feeling is definitely mutual.” He murmured his voice groggy, between kisses.
After a few minutes of kissing over the table, they both broke it off and stood up. Walking around the table to meet each other, Teddy’s hands found Jinny’s waist as her hands found his face and neck. They met in a long and passionate kiss which led Teddy’s hands to the small of Jinny’s back. Teddy’s back was to Jinny’s bedroom, but he started taking small backward steps, still attached to Jinny, who followed. When they got to the bedroom, Jinny broke the kiss off for a second while she looked down at Teddy’s shirt, which she started to fumble with the buttons, unhooking them, exposing his chest. Then, their lips met again as he started to lift her shirt over her head, so they had to separate for another second, but met very soon afterward.
Teddy fumbled with the hook of Jinny’s bra, which fell to the floor as she tried to unbutton his pants without looking down and breaking off the kiss. Finally they fell to the bed and under the covers.
