Some of the people don't leave over money, they leave for other reasons. Shelly Long left Cheers to spend more time with her daughter.

there's sometimes more than one version of why an actor leaves a show and sometimes you never know the real story.

Roger C. Carmel left THE MOTHERS-IN-LAW after the first season because NBC renewed it for a 2nd season but only if the cast would take a "salary freeze". They all (Eve Arden, etc.) did but he refused and walked off the show. They hired Richard Deacon to replace him.

Not true. He left the show because he wanted to be the star of his own show.

He told Loretta Swit, I don't want to be one of six anymore, I want to be one of one.

I believe he later regretted leaving.

Apparently, a big reason why Diana Rigg left THE AVENGERS in the 1960s, after two successful seasons, was due to being paid so little (and treated somewhat poorly by the show's producers), even though her 'Emma Peel' character was probably the single biggest audience draw for the series. Also, movies and prestigious stage work were calling, so the writing was probably on the wall anyway, even if they had paid her well.

Right, his list of demands included a giant ball of yarn and an unlimited supply of Fancy Feast!

I think Pat Harrington missed a few episodes of One Day At A Time because he wanted more money.

Which shows how really confused he was, because Fancy Feast is cat food.

Can't they fire an actor for doing something like that, as they're already under contract?

They almost did, they filed a claim and she came right back.

They actually gave her a raise and everybody else in the cast a raise as well. So hers paid off.

I was the one that was confused. I had forgotten that Tiger was a dog. I was thinking of their cat, Fluffy that was in the pilot.

The cat was only in the pilot from what I remember. Must've been really difficult to work with if she wasn't brought back.

I guess, but I imagine it buys them some ill will from the producers.

It just doesn't seem an honorable way to do things. it would be different if she'd fulfilled her contract and was negotiating a new one.
