Gary is a touchy topic with Lucy fans? I didn't know that...

Seriously, I've talked with fans about Gary before; check a few pages back and you'll see the topic I created...I think I created the topic, lol. Anyway, alot of the fans don't like him, and I think it has to do with the portrayal of him in various Lucy books. He wasn't as shrewd as Desi (not many were, nor are...), but he loved Lucy and I have a problem with many of the Lucy bios out there, so I don't necessarily believe everything that's written about Gary.

Why do I have problems with many of the Lucy bios? Well that's another long drawn out topic that we don't need to get into.

Anyway, the point of the paragraph above is, I know the "Gary subject" is not a good one for many Lucy fans.

I'm probably the minority here, but I like Gary. And yes, I do think he was a better husband than Desi in some ways. Gary didn't cheat on Lucy. Some may argue that we don't know for sure if he did or didn't, but atleast he didn't let it be known if it is true. Desi's public affairs really embarassed Lucy and deeply hurt her. Now I know that certain books really bash Gary (i.e. I Loved Lucy) but that was just one person's opinion. Lucie and Desi Jr. have never said a bad thing about him, and they lived with him for many years. And I understand that Gary did make some bad decisions regarding Lucy's career, but who doesn't make mistakes? Everybody has faults, Lucy, Desi, and Gary included. I just don't understand why everybody hates Gary so much.

And I haven't even read I Loved Lucy, I don't even care about all the faults they did, they've been long gone, no use arguing about the things they did. So I just bash Gary for my own reasons.
