Everyone was sitting in the hospital room with CD...passing around the baby...
Kate:"How are you feeling?"
CD:"I feel great now...a little tired though..."
Raina:"you should be after 18 hours of labor...I thought she was never going to come out!"
Magda was holding Hannah now...
Magda:"It has been so long since I have held a baby this tiny...she is even smaller than Ben was..."
Magda handed her over to Jinny...Jinny looked under the little cap on Hannah's head...
Jinny:"CD your baby is bald!"
CD:"No she isn't!...she has some hair..."
Jinny:"not much!"
Polly:"I cannot believe I am a Grandmother...I feel so old.."
Nate:"well I can't believe our CD here is a Mom..."
Kate:"I always tried to tell her she would be a great mother...Im glad she finally is one..."
Jinny:"here Raina you hold her...she is too little for me...Im scared Im gonna drop her..."
Raina took Hannah from Jinny....
Raina:"I can't wait until I get married and have a baby..."
Kate:"all this is making me miss Amanda...Im going to go home and call her.."
Magda:" yeah I better get home to Ben..."
Jinny:"I better go too..."
CD:"thank you so much for being here..."
Magda hugged CD...
Magda:"anytime honey..."
Jinny and Kate hugged her as well...
Jinny:"thanks putting up with us while you were in labor..."
CD:"I did want to yell at you a couple times but your welcome..."
Kate:"Im gonna tell you to get some sleep but I know you won't with that new baby...so goodnight and I will see you tomorrow..."
CD:"ok...bye guys..."
Jinny, Magda and Kate left....Nate, Raina, and Polly were still there...Raina handed Hannah to Nate...
Raina:"it is getting later so I better get going too...thank you for letting me see Hannah be born..it was an amazing experience..."
CD:"Your welcome...Im glad you were in there with me"
Raina hugged CD and then left...CD noticed Polly looked tired....
CD:"Mom you can stay at my place if you want...my keys are in my bag..."
Nate:"yeah I will give you a lift there.."
Polly:"thats ok...I can take a cab...thank you Candace.."
CD wrote down the address to her new appartment and gave it to her mom....Polly kissed CD and then left the room...
Nate:"so you not mad at her anymore..."
CD:"of course Im still mad...but she is my Mom and I want her to have a place to stay...plus I will not have to put up with her becuase I am here..."
Nate:"you need to get some sleep yourself..."
CD(yawning):"I don't want to go to sleep..."
Nate:"it looks like you do..."
CD:"well Im not sleeping until Hannah does....you look tired though...you should go home and go to bed..."
Nate:"no way!...Im not leaving my little girl..."
CD:"Nate really I am sorry for not telling you..."
Nate:"I know...it doesn't matter...Im just glad you told me before she was born..."
CD:"how does it feel to be a father?"
Nate:"great....its weird though...the one women I thought I could not get pregnant..."
CD(angrily):"Well Im sorry Nate!"
Nate:"no I did not mean it like that....I mean it is just a
coincidence..a good coincidence..."

CD eventually fell asleep....a nurse came and took Hannah to the nursery...Nate slept in a chair beside CD's bed...CD and the baby were released two days later..Nate brought the two home...Polly was still at CD's...she has finished Hannah's room...
CD:"Mom you did all this!?"
Polly:"yes..isn't it great?!"
CD:"yeah it is...and you got the crib together!"
Polly:"yes..whoever started putting it together was doing it all wrong..."
Nate just blushed...
CD:"I can't believe you did all this yourself!"
Polly:"oh it was alot of fun..."

they all went into the living room and sat down...
CD:"so mom..when are you going home?"
Polly:"well...can we have talk first?"
Nate looked over at CD...
Nate:"uhh I think Hannah needs to be changed..."
Nate got Hannah and went into her room.....
CD:"What is it mom?"
Polly:"Candace I know I am a bad mother...and I realize that...and I am sorry for what I did...it is the worst thing a mother could do...but I want to be there for my Granddaughter..I want to stay in here and help you with her..."
CD:"no way!..."
Polly:"Candace please!...I know you...I know you are going to be back at work soon...and you need someone to take care of Hannah...I don't want her with some sitter..."
CD:"Mom she will be fine with a sitter..."
Polly:"please let me make up for what I did...I want to be in your life again...I know you will proably never forgive me, but please let me do this for you?"

Nate:"you know we really have not had a chance to really talk since Hannah has been born..."
CD:"well she is only three days old..."
Nate:"I just want you to know I still love you...I always have and always will...and I think we should give "us" another chance...for Hannah's sake..."
CD:"Nate you know we are better off like we are now..."
Nate:"yeah thats what YOU think CD...."
CD:"when we were together things were weird....and not to mention we argued all the time...and what about our partnership?"
Nate:"CD of course it was wierd at first becuase we were used to just being around each other at work...and our arguments were over what movie we should watch or what we should get on the pizza..not even a big deal...and as for our partnership, don't you think Captain is going to split us up anyway when she finds out Hannah is my baby?..becuase Im not going to pretend she's not mine CD..."
CD:"I know Nate, I don't want you to pretend...but the chances of us staying partners is better if you are just my baby's Daddy than if we are romanticly involved..."
Nate:"I don't understand why you are acting like this....if took us so long to admit our feelings for each other the first time..."
CD:"could we just drop the subject?"
Nate:"fine whatever..."
Polly entered the room with the baby...she handed her to CD...
Polly:"I think she is hungry...."
CD started baby talking to Hannah..
CD:"aww is Hannah hungry?...you want Mommy to feed you, huh?"
Nate had to giggle...CD was baby talking just like her mother...
Polly:"I was going to make dinner...I need to run to the market though..."
CD:"you can take my car...the keys are around here somewhere..."
Polly:"ok thanks...I will be back soon..."
Polly found the keys and left...CD fixed a bottle while Nate played with the baby...CD came back to the room and handed the bottle to Nate...
CD:"you wanna feed her?"
Nate:"sure....."
Nate started feeding Hannah....
Nate:"do you think she knows my voice from when she was inside of you?"
CD:"Im sure she does...she did have to listen to your opinion on EVERYTHING for nine months..."
Nate:"so when are you coming back to work?"
CD:"I will probably wait a few weeks...Im just nervous about leaving Hannah with somone everyday..."
Nate:"yeah me too...but Im sure if we start looking now, we can find a good sitter..."
CD:"you know my mom wants to move here and take care of Hannah....I am going to tell her no though..."
Nate:"why?"
CD:"I still can't stand her Nate..."
Nate:"I know what she did was awful, and I can't imagin how it must hurt...but your mom seems really sorry for what she did...and she wants to be there for you and Hannah..."
CD:"I know...why couldn't she just have been there for me when I was a kid...and when Ricky raped me..."
Nate:"you can't help what happend in the past...you just have focus on things being better in the future..."
CD laughed...
CD:"that sounded really wise..."
Nate:" but it's true... and wouldn't you rather your mom take care of Hannah than some sitter who we don't even know?"
CD:"yes you have a point...I just don't know if my Mom is capable of taking care of a baby..."
Nate:"You saw her with Hannah...she is great with her!...she had a baby once herself you know..."
CD:"I know...I guess it is a good idea...I can put up with her for Hannah's sake...I just hope she doesn't turn her into a fruit loop..."
Nate:"I don't think she will be any more fruity than you are!"
CD smirked...
CD:"jerk..."
Nate:"yeah yeah....so what about child support and custody..and all that stuff..."
CD:"I doesn't matter...you can just buy her stuff when she needs it or whatever...and as for custody, she is staying with me!"
Nate:"of course...but when do I get to see her?"
CD:"anytime you want...you know you are always welcome here.."
Nate:"so if I wanted to come see her everyday, for a couple hours, you would not mind?"
CD:"why not?...I am with you all day anyway..what's a few more hours?"

I wasn't going to post anymore tonight...but I figured what the hell....

Polly finally returned from the Market...
Polly:"That place was busy!...I thought I was never going to get out of there..."
CD:"we thought you were never coming back!"
Polly:"are you having dinner with us Nate?"
Nate:"well that depends on what your having?"
Polly:"lasagna!"
Nate:"ohh thats my favorite..."
Polly:"so I take it you are staying?"
CD:"he would stay no matter what we were having..."
Nate:"yep, Im stayin'!

Polly cooked while Nate and CD watched tv...Hannah was
sleeping....Polly came into the living room...
Polly:"It is almost finished..."
Nate:"Good...Im starving.."
CD:"yeah so am I...Im pretty tired too..."
Polly:"oh just wait until tonight...."
CD:"my first night with a baby...I have a bad feeling about this..."
Polly:"well you never know...she might be one of those babies who sleep all night..."
Nate:"or she could be one of those babies who stay up all night screaming..."
CD:"she hasn't cried too much so far...so thats a good thing..."
Nate:"that is becuase I have been with her...Im her favorite person..."
CD:"nuh uh..I am..."
Polly:"I better go finish cooking..."

Polly went back into the kitchen...she really liked Nate...he seemed like a really nice guy...she noticed him and CD got along really well also..."If only they were not partners.." she thought
to herself....she finally finished cooking....
Polly:"Ok it's ready.."
Nate:"great!"
The three went to the kitchen...they all sat down and began to eat...
Nate:"this is really good lasagna...and I don't say that about very many peoples lasagna!"
CD:"yeah Mom...I don't remember your lasagna ever being this good..."
Polly:"oh it is a new recipe.."

They all finished eating...Polly cleaned up and did the
dishes...Nate and CD tried to help her but she would not let them...
Nate:"I guess I better head home..."
CD:"yeah Im going to talk to Mom then go to bed..."
Nate and CD went into Hannah's room...Nate gave her a kiss...
Nate:"I don't want to leave her..."
CD just smiled...
CD:"you can come back tomorrow morning before you go to the Division..."
Nate:"yeah I guess I can..."
CD walked Nate to the door...
Nate:"I guess this is goodnite.."
CD:"yep...I'll see you tomorrow..."
Nate kissed CD's forehead...CD wanted to be with him so
bad...but she was just too afraid...

CD walked into the kitchen where her Mother was finishing up the dishes...
CD:"well I have been thinking about what you asked..."
Polly:"and?"
CD:"You can keep Hannah while I work...but Im doing this for her...not becuase everything is all ok now.."
Polly:"I understand...thank you Candace..."
CD:"you can stay here until you find a good place....I will need you close, becuase I am on call most nights..."
Polly:"thats fine...."
CD:"I guess it's settled then..."

They walked into the living room and sat on the couch...
Polly:"so tell me about Nate...he seems like a great guy..."
CD(jokingly):"oooh do you have a crush on him?"
Polly:"of course not...Im an old lady!....I just noticed you two seem pretty close..."
CD:"we are....actually...he is Hannah's Father..."
Polly's jaw dropped...she had the strangest look of
shock/excitment on her face...CD just laughed at her...
CD:"you were not expecting that, were you?"
Polly:"No I wasn't...you mean you two...uh...you know?
CD:"yeah..well we were more than partners for a few months..."
Polly frowned...
Polly:"what happend?"
CD:"stuff happend...we both are so stubborn...it is mostly my fault though..."
Polly:"how do you feel about him?"
CD:"I think I love him...no, I know I love him...it just seems too good with him...I just know something is gonna come between us and then we will never speak again...that is why I just want to keep things the way they are now..."
Polly:"it sounds like you two should be together...you do have a child with him..."
CD:"I know...it is just so complicated..."
Polly:"I think you are just making it complicated..."
