A bad example Whoopie gave? You need to go to Youtube and watch that discussion. Whoopie wasn't giving her an example, she was asking what was meant to be a rhetorical question. Evolution is another such instance where, in the past, society believed something else, but the science has since become overwhelming. She asked Sherri whether she thought the world was flat because she was trying to make a point. She was anticipating Sherri to say, "Of course I don't believe the world is flat." Whoopie was NOT expecting her reply to be "I don't know, I've never thought about it." When Sherri made that ignorant comment, the conversation suddenly turned in a different direction. This is not an intelligent woman, and I don't get why you're trying to defend her stupidity.

Excuse me, but I saw the episode when it aired, and she flat out ask Sherri that question and she didn't ask it in a rhetorical manner. She should have ask Sherri a faith based question since that's what they were talking about. She should have asked Sherri "What if your son came to you and asked if God exist?" Not, is the world round. Astronauts have gone into space and have taken pictures. So YES, I think that was a stupid example she gave.
