F**k the RIAA. I think people should be allowed to download music for free. If artists are so concerned about people downloading their music for free, they should stop making wack songs especially rappers. Rap music is so dead today. Rap ain't what it used to be. Plus i had this guy download & burn me some very old r&b songs that aren't even available on cd so that's a good thing. Chuck D of rap group Public Enemy said that he doesn't see a problem with people downloading music for free cause he said the record labels are so shady anyway. He said record labels have been taking advantage of artists for so long so downloading isn't a crime in his opinion & i agree with him.

I agree. Downloading music is NO DIFFERENT THAN TAPING MUSIC OFF THE RADIO!!! Everyone in here who remembers the 80's very well remember how big home taping was. Everyone borrowed their friends albums and copied it. Did it hurt the industry then? NO! The only difference is that cd's are better than cassette tapes. Plus, IMO, if you buy an artists concert ticket, you've more than made up for the money they lost for downloading a cd. For the average $50 concert ticket (and most artists charge more), they're getting $20-25 of that alone, whereas for a $18.99 cd, most of them won't be getting more than 50-75 cents. You're depriving the artist of a candy bar by downloading the cd, LOL

I actually cut back on my downloading habits, and started buying more CDs, when the companies began to lower their prices. I went to Target, and almost every CD was $9.98, that's unbeatable!

true, but it sucks it's only $9.88 the first week out. Some of us are picky with what we buy and generally like to wait until we've heard more of the album. For example, I would like to get the new Pink, but I wanna wait until I've heard more songs off it, but yet it was only $9.99 the first week out. Now Greatest Hits cd's are a much easier "first week sale" purchase (ala No Doubt, Sheryl Crow, Stone Temple Pilots) because the fans who will buy it know over half the album anyways

I used to record songs off the radio back in the 80's when i was a kid. I remember them days. BuffySlayer79 you're exactly right. The artists make more money doing concerts than they make selling albums. It's not like they see a whole lot of money selling albums anyway.
