I'd have to say the sixties. Nothing from that decade appeals to me.

I like some sitcoms from every decade. However, the current decade is the worst in my opinion.
Everyone seems to bash the 1990's but that's probably my favorite decade for sitcoms (Thanks to NewsRadio, Ned & Stacey, Ellen, Boy Meets World, Wings, Step by Step and Get a Life). The 70's were great but at that time every other show was groundbreaking, and it just made me sick to my stomach. I only like a few shows from the 1980's (Perfect Strangers, ALF, Taxi). I like the 1960's for such shows as: Mister Ed, Car 54, The Monkees and The Munsters. And I like the 1950's for: I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Leave it to Beaver, Life of Riley and others. The only shows I like from the current decade are: The King of Queens Less Than Perfect Reno 911 8 Simple Rules A Minute with Stan Hooper |

Wow! What a depressing thread this is to read. I am floored that so many of you are listing the 50's and especially the 60's as a decade you don't like any sitcoms from. It just boggles my mind that anyone could feel that way.
The 50's gave us arguably the most reknowned sitcom of all time, "I LOVE LUCY", so that alone should have kept any of you from naming it. Of course, when you add other well known classics like "LEAVE IT TO BEAVER" and "FATHER KNOWS BEST", it's clear that the 50's were a wonderful decade! And the 60's were easily the greatest decade ever for classic sitcoms, so any pick of that time is even more baffling. If one only considers "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW" (which btw, blew away the competition recently with its Reunion special - showing it's still very popular) and "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" then there is no way it could be picked as a poor decade. These shows have stood the test of time and will continually be classics. Now, if one wants to talk about poor decades, one need only consider the last several years to see that this present decade is a bust! Yep, it gets my vote for giving us not one, and I mean not one, decent sitcom. B&W "the 60's were awesome with all the great sitcoms that came out during that time" fan |

The worst decades are the 50s and 60s. Those shows are all black and white (mostly) and boring. All I have to say is P-U!!!
As for the 40s, I didnt even know tv was around then. So I cant judge that decade. The current shows SUCK!!!!!!! That feeling of homemade comedy is not there anymore. They just try too hard now a days. The 70s 80s and 90s shows are the best. They dealt with real issues. I like shows I can relate to. Shows with preppy characters are just frickin dumb.

Current sitcoms suck. I only like really 3 sitcoms(that I watch everyday)
Family Matters Roseanne Full House in that order... I occasionally might watch some other sitcom, but that is it. The sitcoms of today suck. |

Current sitcoms are the ones I don't like except "Sex and the City". I like sitcoms from the 50's through the 90's. The 30's and 40's are Old Time Radio sitcoms before TV aren't around back then.

)There's a reason why the sixties were such a great decade for popular music - it was a terrible decade for televison sitcoms! The sixties kids wisely turned off the TV when Ed Sullivan and Jimmy O'Neil weren't on and went out and bought Beatles and Stones records! They went to Woodstock and heard Hendrix play "The Star-Spangled Banner!" The one good thing you could say about the Baby Boomers is that they were not a "My Mother The Car" crowd!

I'll go decade by decade to figure this out....
Likes 1950s- Leave It To Beaver, I Love Lucy 1960s- Beaver? 1970s- Three's Company, Sanford & Son, Are You Being Served, Jeffersons(?) 1980s- Too many to list 1990s- Too many to list 2000s- The Office, Arrested Development, (early) My Name Is Earl, Parks & Rec(?) 2010s- Umm.....Parks & Rec? So 1960s or 2010.....I'll go with the 2010s because I actively avoid most of the contemporary sitcoms I see advertised. At least I can use the "well, I wasn't alive to see that stuff" excuse for 60s shows. |

That's easy: the 1940s. Simply because 40s shows are never syndicated, so I have no idea what any of them are like. The 50s has a few good ones: I Love Lucy, Ozzie and Harriet, Bachelor Father, and Leave it to Beaver. That's about it, although there are probably several I haven't seen compared to other decades. Father Knows Best and The Honeymooners are overrated. I also saw I Married Joan once, that's proof that older is not automatically better. 60s, 80s, and 90s have several of my favorite sitcoms, they would be the best decades. 70s have a few good ones but like I just said in another thread I don't care much for Norman Lear and Three's Company. And 2000s on have been weaker for sitcoms compared to dramas, unfortunately the vast majority of today's sitcoms resort to crude sexual humor all the time.

2010s
for me, i haven't enjoyed sitcoms as much since around about 2003 onwards. i preferred the 1980s and 1990s sitcoms, and though i wasn't born in the 1970s, i enjoyed some sitcoms such as the jeffersons, good times, taxi and what's happening!!. |
