Well given the time period, you can't really expect FOL to have covered AIDS. AIDS didn't even really emerge as a problem until the mid-80s, and they were still trying to figure out what it was. They still thought it was a "gay disease," and since there were no gay people on FOL it wouldn't have made sense to have covered it.

As for other VDs, well, ya kinda have to be having sex first. I totally think they should have covered sex before they did.

I also would have liked to have seen them cover alcohol better than they did, but it may have been hard because it's not like anyone could have big house parties or anything since it was a boarding school.

Also, because of the time period, they couldn't really cover drugs in a realistic and satisfying way. The Reagan administration ordered TV shows in the '80s to have at least one episode illustrating the dangers of drugs (otherwise, A Little Help From My Friends probably never would have been made). Any show that would have attempted a realistic approach to drugs that wasn't neatly resolved in 23 minutes would've drawn heat.

Default Subject not covered by FOL

Here are some very important issues that Facts Of Life never touched on:

1. Dyslexic serial killers who want to adopt;

2. Cat-juggling.

More later.

In the ep where Kelly steals, wasn't it bread that she stuffed in her coat or something? I remember seeing this episode on USA, but... I can't remember what it was

Yeah, she caught Kelly with things under her jacket and pulled out a jar and said, "Marinated baby-corns??!!" And she replied,
"Hey, can I help it you don't have REAL food around here?"

Hmm, maybe it was... I think there was a long loaf of bread, but I
do remember the jar of baby-corns. Maybe it was two different episodes, because she was always trying to steal or cause trouble.
