There's not a new comedy out right now that I make a point to sit down and watch anymore. I will watch Friends or Frasier and a few others if I have the time, but other than that I go to FX for MASH re-runs, TBS for Fresh Prince re-runs, and lifetime for Golden Girls, Designing Women, and Murphy Brown in addition to N@N and I'm so glad MTM is now on TVLand. The dramas currently on are a completely different story, but I do have to agree on the present state of sitcoms.

I understand the "kiddies" need their television; So, another idea would be to break the network into two, one being Nickelodeon (24 hour kids channel), the other being "The Sitcom Channel" (sitcoms 24 hours a day). That way both generations will be happy, the kids and the adults, and we all live happily ever after. The End.

Nick at Nite has already expanded it's programming-it's the sister channel TV LAND. TV land is the extension of NAN that airs 24 hours a day. When it premiered in 1996, it was called "Nick at Nite's TV Land". So you see, it has already been done.

speaking of n@n being a classic TV network, how many of ya'll remember n@n back in the early 80's? i was a kid then and just starting to watch that channel. back then as best i can remember, they seemed to have hardly nothing but 50's sitcoms. now THOSE are classic shows! don't get me wrong, i loooooooove facts of life, <why else would i be on this board!> but the really good classics, back in the 50's had a quality about them that you just don't see anymore. like "i love lucy" my all time fav next to facts of life, and they had the show the donna reed show, george burns show, the dick van dyke show, and others i can't honestly remember, but i wish they would bring those shows back!!! keep facts of life though! just mix them up put some from the 50's some from the 60's, some from the 70's and so on. i don't guess they have enough time for that, but there is such a thing as a vcr, and we could record what they put on late at night!

I am EXTREMLEY UPSET about this, I HATE the new sitcoms, all their jokes are about sex, the writing is on THE WALL FOR GOODNESS SAKES! All the new sitcoms have this ONE TRACK mind (Sex), I DO NOT LIKE THIS! I don't know what happend to Nick@Nite the past year. I Hate those shows ("Rosanne" & "Fresh Prince"). LET'S FACE IT, N@N NEW PROGRAMMING ARE DOWN THE TUBE (except for FOL and Three's C"), INCLUDING THE NEW SITCOMS! The last show that I even liked would end in 1991, which was "Mama's Family". Thats why I am taping all the CLASSIC T.V. SHOWS, including buying them from COLUMBIA HOUSE, so when the new shows INVADE all our stations, I'LL BE ENJOYING ALL THE CLASSICS! Whoever thinks the NEW SHOWS are down the tube - post a reply here!
I totallty agreee with this comment. I do like Roseanne and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air but let's face it, they are not Nick at Nite material. I posted on the Roseanne message board and asked the question:"What if Roseanne reallyc came to NAN? I was only joking when I asked. I didn't think they would actually do it.

I may be going crazy, but I seem to recall seeing the very shortlived SNL spin-off "The Coneheads" airing on NAN in the late 80's. Is this true, or am I just going crazy?

No. There was no spinoff. Just Sat. Night Live episodes with the Conehead segments.

Personally I would like to see an even mixture of shows from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's, but right now most of the shows are 70's. I mean, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but I think it should be more balanced. However, people want to see 80's shows (just like how people wanted to see 70's shows five or ten years ago), so N@N will probably replace many of the current shows with 80's shows, which is good for fans of 80's TV, but the rest will probably have to stick with TVLAND.

Well Thomas, Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, but I could have sworn "The Coneheads" was a short-lived series (a VERY short-lived series) in the early 80's. Maybe I had some weird dream that is giving me these memories, or perhaps I'm just weird myself.

I think there was a Coneheads movie in the early 80's that was made for TV, but I'm not positive.

Who knows, maybe 3 years ago when we could still watch Facts on USA we would've been saying, "is it really ready for n@n?" I think they should branch of and create all thse sub-networks (there are like a million channels now after all) and there should be like the 50's channel, 60's, etc. Now THAT would be cool.
abiut the channels... now that would really be the life.nothin' but 80's sitcoms all day. that would possibly mean more FOLor better eps at least. but that probley would never happen tho'.

I personally think that Nick at Night is trying to get RID of it's old 50's sitcom image and get a couple newer ones because TV Land is now the one with Honeymooners, Leave it to Beaver, ect. And I think that they don't want to go into competition. Because alot of sitcoms on Nick at Night are not from 80's like Facts of Life; Wonder Years; ect. So that's What i think..I could be wrong..
