I liked Julie, but I loved Kate. Her and Mike were better for each other.

Julie was my favorite. And those were the best episodes.

Tough choice, really. From a character standpoint, I would have to say Julie. Their story seemed better written. Julie didn't seem as forced of a character as Kate did since she had interaction with the entire family due to her job as the nanny.
Kate, IMO, had less depth as a character. From a personal standpoint, taking into account that Mike and Kate married in real life, they are a sentimental favorite. However, for storyline purposes, I thought Mike and Julie were better built as a couple. Physically, Kate was and is hotter. |

The Mike/Julie storyline was better written and more romantic than the Mike/Kate storyline. So I will vote for Julie.

I liked the Mike/Julie storyline a lot. I guess the actress got fired and then the Kate s/l came into play, which was nice in its own way, but different.
I just watched the Valentine's episode when Mike & Kate are on a date and the waitress just so happens to be Julie. I hear the fans were upset about the way Julie's exit went down (the letter) and they wanted a proper sendoff/goodbye for the couple. So they brought her back for that scene - the hug between them is touching as it seems more of a hug between the actors than the characters. I actually think the triangle would have worked well. I just couldn't see Mike choosing Kate over Julie in the end (if she were still in the picture). I'm glad Kate was brought onto the show though. She was gorgeous on screen and they had great chemistry. |
