sometimes: The Dick Van Dyke Show, Happy Days, The Brady Bunch, Sanford and Son, & The Love Boat. 2) Cheers, Family Ties, All In The Family, MacGyver, Gunsmoke, The Waltons, Fantasy Island, Bonanza, Leave It To Beaver, The Andy Griffith Show, Carol Burnett & Friends. 3) Cheers, All In The Family, Gunsmoke, The Andy Griffith Show, Leave It To Beaver, and (I hate to say this but) Sanford and Son. 4) Flipper, Mister Ed, Green Acres, The Lucy Show, Dennis the Menace, The Addams Family, Mork and Mindy, Here's Lucy, The Ann Sothern Show/Susie, Three's A Crowd, The Ropers, She's the Sheriff and Car 54, Where Are You?. 5) I think TV Land is declining from the its glorious days of the year 2003. Adding these hand-me-down leftovers ("Family Ties", "Cheers", & "All In The Family") from Nick at Nite, I think, is a big mistake. They should be focused more on what's suited for their target audience: classic television composed of OLD shows; not this junk crap from the 80's. In looking at the current TV Land schedule, I often ask this simple question: where did all of the good, wholesome shows go? This question isn't surprising to me at least because TV Land seems to be following the awful trend of Nick at Nite. Like Nick at Nite did long ago, by kicking off classic tv shows one by one, is what I'm afraid TV Land will do next. Before we know it, our favorite talking horse, our favorite redhead Lucy, the sexy Jeannie, among others will disappear right in front of our faces. TV Land, you're turning into another sad, depressing network. |

1. What show do I watch on TV Land?
Family Ties, Dick Van Dyke, and Cheers 2. What don't I watch? Everything else unless I leave the TV on that channel and leave the house or room. 3. What's overplayed? Hate to say it cause I watch it but, Cheers, and AITF saw it on N@N, Brady Bunch was overplayed before it ever got to TV Land (TBS overplayed it when I was growing up) 4. Rarely played in past 10 years? Too Close For Comfort Alice Facts of Life (none of the channels carried it in my area) One Day at a Time Kate and Allie Double Trouble My Sister Sam Dukes of Hazzard Whats Happening (The Original) Day By Day Alf Newhart Mr Belvedere The Patty Duke Show Dobie Gillis That Girl 5. Suggestions Take off Bonanza, Waltons, and Gunsmoke and replace them with something else that N@N has not already overplayed. Put those 3 shows mentioned on the Western Channel or some other channel. There okay shows but I want comedy slap stick not those type of shows. |

And, what's "Double Trouble" & "Day by Day"? |

I have Cox Cable and they have an Encore package which includes the Western Channel and Lifetime Movie Network, True, Action, Etc type channels. If you get encore you could get the Western Channel its a package of about 8 channels all of which stick to one subject type.
Day by Day - short lived sitcom with Elaine from Seinfeld and Courtney Thorne Smith Double Trouble - The twins Kate and Allie Sagal (Katey Sagal's sisters) it was on USA a long time ago, they lived with their Aunt and 2 stupid guys that resembled Lenny and Squigy in their actions |

Now for the survey: Shows I watch: Family Ties Cheers Leave it to Beaver (once in awhile) Mister Ed (once in awhile) All in the Family Shows I don't Watch: Bewitched I Dream of Jeannie Happy Days Brady Bunch All others... Overplayed shows: Brady Bunch HAPPY DAYS!!! Leave it to Beaver Andy Griffith Show What classic shows overplayed in the last 10 years... The Cosby Show --edit--I first misread the post. I thought it was shows that have been overplayed not UNDERPLAYED. The Cosby Show has been overplayed is what I tried to convey. Praises/Complaints I am very unhappy with TV Land right now. The constant schedule changes, the manipulation of certain shows, the inconsistent airings of shows (skipping episodes) and the ugly way they are treating Family Ties and Cheers!! Get some new shows also and quite playing the same ones all the time! |

First, N@N and TV Land reported record ratings last year just as they are. Therefore many people do like the 80s "junk crap." I don't care for the current N@N lineup, but many do. I like 80s sitcoms just not Roseanne and TCS. Second, I would hardly call Family Ties, Cheers, and All in the Family "hand me downs" They all have won tons of Emmys and Awards and so have their actors. Cheers was the most watched comedy for I don't know how many seasons and Family Ties also had very high ratings (All in the Family doesn't even need an explanation). Family Ties is being shown very little on TV Land and Cheers has also been cut way down. Why can't everyone have a show on TV Land that they want? On the other hand, TV Land has aired Lucy forever and they air Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie several times a day! So if TV Land and N@N are following an "awful trend" then they have the ratings to back it up. Like I said, N@N has never done better since they started their Modern TV Classic campaign with Cheers, Family Ties, The Cosby Show, & Roseanne. And dont' worry about Lucy, it will be aired forever. Mister Ed, Bewitched, and Jeannie have also had very fair runs, unlike many other shows. TV Land and N@N are designed to cater to a wide variety of television tastes not just 60s oldies. And as far as TV Land "kicking off classic tv shows one by one" is concerned, I see them airing more of them. Everytime I change it their, they are showing one of those old shows. When Cheers, Family Ties, All in the Family, and Carol Burnett were added, Jeannie, Lucy, and Mister Ed still stayed on air. |

Sorry, to be harsh, but that's truth. We have already lost Nick at Nite as far as oldies classic television goes and losing TV Land would just be a bigger, major disappointment. And by the way . . . why can't everyone have a show on Nick at Nite they want? Quote:
Like I said before, the ratings aren't exactly accurate and can be possibly skewed so thus it's not a good "back-up". Quote:

Personally, I find most of the 80's to recent sitcoms trashy. I find no values or morals to them. Classic oldies I do find but not 80's. I think shows prior to 1979 have much better quality to them. Guess what . . . TV Land SHOULD cater to classic oldies and not do Nick at Nite's job of catering to "modern tv classics". It's obvious that we opposing views on this issue. To be quite frank, I think I am right because my view all makes sense to me and but your doesn't. Oh well, I know for a fact that other people will agree with me because they know what I'm getting at. I know that I have supporters already backing me up on the issue. Anyways, I believe in my way, and not yours. If you don't like it, it's your problem. |

You're welcome Jen1982 or Jen1989. I am so tired of this mess that I just exploded the other day. I had let 'LucyFan"get away with being ugly about Cheers and Family Ties once before, but not again. If you have legitimate criticism of a show, fine let us all debate it. But name calling with no legitimate criticism except that you don't like the show is uncalled for.
It is a serious flaw in character and selfish to not want to give up 1/2 hour out of an entire 24 hour network for somebody's taste that is different than your own. Since you don't see nothing wrong with airing "Bewitched" more than once a day because it is fairly new, then you shouldn't have had a problem with Family Ties getting more than because it is even newer to TV Land. However, you have a problem with even one airing. So that is a flaw in your logic. Family Ties is 22 years old. I think that qualifies it as a classic. It is just your opinion about what belongs on TV Land. It is ultimately up to the network. TV Land changes all the time and if we are all patient out favorite shows will be aired eventually. It is just a personal problem that you can't find any moral values in a show created after 1979. I don't happen to see any stunning moral qualities about Bewitched or the Munsters or Jeannie either, but they are aired. The 80s was the reign of the "Family sitcom" How can you see that Family Ties, Growing Pains, The Cosby Show, Family Matters, Full House, and many many more have no moral values. That just proves to me that you are not watching and keeping an open mind. I Love Lucy has been aired on either N@N or TV Land for years. Remember when it was on Block Party Summer?? Nobody is going to suffer from Lucy withdraw anytime soon. And it is always rude to call a whole genre of television "junk crap" because you don't care for it. Many people like 80s. The 70s and 80s boards have the most interest of the people visiting this site than any other sitcom group. And as far as Family Ties and Cheers replacing other classics--it is called TV Land losing contracts or just giving a show a break. Gilligan had been on a long time. And flip over to the Hallmark channel if you want Gilligan. They are having a marathon this Monday from 6pm-8pm. And the Munsters are already back so cool it down. All of this is just a matter of a degree of selfishness and personal opinion. Oh, and a lot of people would also agree with me and enjoy having Cheers and Family Ties on TV Land for ONE (1) HOUR out of TWENTY FOUR (24). And I think not many people would support this attack on the entire 80s genre independent of what anybody thinks about TV land specifically considering that many people's favorite shows come from the 80s. And as far as keeping N@N and TV Land segregated, I don't think it is Viacom's top priority to engage in this sitcom class warfare that you are trying to create. There goal is to air as many shows as they can and to make ratings, NOT erect barriers by saying well this show is 22 years old, not 25 so it can't air on this network. |

You're not worth debating to. It's like talking to a brick wall. Anything I say goes in one ear and out of the other. You can't come up with anything better but except re-stating your point (which to be quite frank has some errors in it). You obviously don't understand any one of my points which I find that to be ironic because other people do. If I do appear to be selfish, then maybe I am but so what . . . so are these networks OR maybe I'm not, I'm nearly trying to state the obvious truth of the matter. It's all in the eye of the beholder. And if the eye of beholder sees me as selfish, then screw him or her . . . they're not worth my time OR effort. In conclusion, I wish you good-bye and one day I hope you see the light of the truth of the matter . . . 'til then, I'm done talking to you. Have a nice day! |

1) What shows do you watch on TV Land?
Carol Burnett if it has a Mama's Family Sketch and Bewitched if it's a Serena episode. 2) What TV Land shows do not watch? All them but the two I mentioned 3) What TV Land shows do you think have been overplayed? Cheers, Family Ties and I Love Lucy 4) What CLASSIC TV shows do you think have been rarely played over the last 10 years? The Lucy Show, Alice, Phyllis, The Addams Family, Petticoat Junction, and Gimme A Break 5) What are your suggestions/comments/praises to TV Land? Get rid of these shows: Cheers - it's overplayed WAY TOO damn much. It's a stupid comedy, add something better that you have rights too. I Love Lucy - it's crap! If Lucille Ball is queen of comedy, then why do you air only one of her shows? It's making some fans sick of it. Family Ties - give it back to TBS, it's a stupid comedy like Cheers. The Munsters - it seems like it's been on forever, show The Addams Family instead. It'd make me happy
