I did buy MTM Season 1. Inside was a slip of paper telling us to watch for Season 2 this March.
They know a good portion of the sales depend on the knowledge that the whole series will some day soon be available. Sorry, but I'm sitting this one out until there are solid promises. Get fooled once, shame on them. Get fooled twice, shame on me. |

My point is that with MTM, they told us seasons would be released every six months, went so far as to include a note in the Season 1 box telling us when they planned to release Season 2.
Of course this isn't a charity, and they should be entitled to profit. If they weren't happy with the financial results, they should have tried changes, Perhaps a lower price on Season 2. Perhaps going to the rights holders and telling them they have to charge a lower fee. The bottom line is that the package itself probably costs about $5 to make. Distribution would add another $1-3, depending on the volume. There's money to be made, depending on royalties and expectations. If they lost money on Season 1, there's plenty of room to make changes so that wouldn't happen on Season 2, even with a price cut. They didn't even market the set, which probably helped lead to the disappointing sales. A lot of these companies (and this is their right, of course) can't see the future past the next six months. They have no problem making a promise one year, and breaking it the next. All I'm saying is that we need to get the message out that we (and, obviously, this may not apply to all of us) want the full series, and we're going to feel burned if that never becomes available. That might put pressure on Fox and others to market, price and negotiate fees in a very different manner. What made me very excited about Doug's project (and it's still on his web site - a promise that still looks like it may be unfulfilled) was that he was going to make all 158 episodes available in a set. I actually haven't watched DVD on TVLand for about two years, anticipating this set. |

I can't wait for it to be released. I'm probably going to buy Season 2 first. I don't have the money for both, and I like season 2 better than 1. Its kind of weird that they are releasing seasons 1 and 2 on the same day. At least we'll have 2 seasons if they decide not to release the rest.

I have received my Season One set of the DVDS DVDs and they are absolutely awesome!
For starters, you are going to love the packaging, lenticular, and slim line cases - and that's before you ever open the DVD case! The inserts of each of the cases are great and also have episode descriptions. Once you drop the DVD in your player, it takes off and plays the DVDS theme and a montage of photos (from the classic opening). Once the opening finishes, then you get your choice of watching all the episodes, a single episode (or any segment of an episode) or viewing the "extras" - which includes bonus footage, interviews, and/or an episode specific photo gallery. Very cool! The digital reproduction and quality is fanatastic!! Here's to a giant thumbs up!!! And I most certainly still have my sense of humor. |

David,
I'm very envious that you've already received your set. Since the street date isn't until next Tuesday, I presume you got yours thru some "connections." I know my set is in the mail as of today and I've got a shot at getting it Monday instead of Tuesday (it will depend on where it was shipped from), but I'm really surprised anyone got it this early. It sounds awesome and I can't wait!!!! Thanks for that update! B&W "boy, talk about your mouth watering with anticipation" fan |

You say "slim line" cases, does that mean its similar to the Family Guy cases??
I hope so, because if not, itll take up a LOT of space on my shelf. |

I am not familiar with the Family Guy cases.
But these cases are about half the thickness of a "typical" DVD plastic case. |

They hardly ever advertise TV DVDs.
I saw these at the FYE in my mall tonight, and they look great! But Im waiting until tuesday, to get Season 2. Itll be cheaper at either Best Buy or Wal Mart. |
