Yeah, I know. I have my quirks and just notice silly stuff like that. Another thing I just thought of, the player piano that Helen bought played "Isn't It Romantic?" That must be the song of choice for the writers because it's been used quite a few times. In that same Christmas episode, the music box Antonio gave Helen & Joe played it, and the episode with Walter's wedding where Lowell & Alex were dancing. That's the song the band was playing. Lowell starts singing it and says 'I really like this song, I wish I knew what it was called!' Also, the song was used a few times on 'Frasier', which as everybody knows are pretty much the same people doing Wings. Just some more useless information coming out of my head!!!

"Isn't It Romantic?" (one of my FAVORITE Rodgers & Hart songs) was also played over the closing credits of the episode where Brian makes the special videotape for Joe and Helen.....and that "closing credit" sequence also features clips from some of Joe and Helen's greatest fights.

lol I noticed that too. Well, I didn't know what song it was, but when the music box Antonio gave them started playing it, I was wondering if I was weird because I noticed that it was the same song the player piano was playing a few episodes before that..

I did like that episode alot, but I really didn't think the writers were taking shots at overweight people or anything like that. I always felt the point that was driving the story line was the struggle with coming to terms with a dramatic change in your life, such as a good friend or a brother or sister suddenly no longer being available as they once were. I know I said this in a previous post, but this worked for me because it was so "real" and honest. It can be difficult for some friends to cope when another friend gets married or gets into a serious relationships. Guys in particular can struggle with that. Eating is just one of many things people might end up doing to deal with stress or upset, and maybe they should have come up with something else, but the laugh to me wasn't about Brian being overweight, it was about his inablility to cope with the change now that Joe is married.

Something that I just noticed about that "gaining weight" episode...and if you still have it on videotape, take a minute and check it out....

It's the scene right after the "Overeaters' Anonymous" meeting...the scene in Joe's office when he brings Brian the gift of the "3 Stooges" video set....

When Joe walks into his office, Brian is sitting at the desk eating something...it looks like a plastic container of pudding or something....

Just look at Brian's face when he stops eating and looks up at Joe....The look on Brian's face is the SADDEST thing that I've ever seen!
He doesn't look like he's even ENJOYING what he's eating...but he's sitting there eating it because he doesn't know what else to do, and he seems to have "guilt" written all over his face.

Just check that scene out and see if you don't notice it too....No, outside of a few "denial" laughs, I don't think that that episode was making fun of Brian's problem or overweight people at all....and as a person who has had a weight problem in the past, I am very sensitive to that kind of stuff!
