I don't really remember any restrictions when I was youngm but around age 8-13.

Cheers--shortly after Rebecca came on

Night Court--in the late 80s when the show entered syndication w/ the early episodes w/ the foul mouthed old lady bailif

Saturday Night Live--Late 80s/early 90s

Roseanne

Married with Children

Simpsons---Several times w/ it came on but we basically fought our way out/ignored that because dad really liked the show as well & would side in w/ us. Mom did come around.

Those were the same for me... Although I did catch them on occasion (and since I live in Indiana, where there is no daylight savings time, we used to have cable that showed shows an hour early so Mom and Dad would "screen" them).

Now, though, I think those shows are just... ehhh.

When I was younger my mother forbidded my younger brother to watch Beavis and Butthead. I personly didn't watch it because it was stupid. But my step dad forbid us to watch the Simpsons.

this porn show called 'Passion Cove' or something on Cinemax. My mom never let me watch it. We don't have HBO, Cinemax, or Shotime anymore....

My parents never really forbade me from watching certain TV shows. They allowed me to watch whatever I wanted, within reason. They'd limit how much TV a day I could watch though.
Can't say I was ever forbidden to watch anything, but then when I was growing up, TV was totally different than now. Back in the late 50s I don't think there was anything on TV that you would have to be concerned about your children seeing. Quite a difference from today's television.

For some reason, which I never understood, my parents never let me watch Growing Pains as a kid. I always found that odd considering the fact that they let me watch Roseanne which was obviously much more crude. I don't know, maybe they just didn't like the fact that one of the main characters was named Boner. I'm just not sure. They also wouldn't let me watch pro wrestling, and Married With Children among others.

I Wasn't Allowed To Watch:

Married With Children
The Simpsons
In-Living Color
Martin
Roseanne
Beavis And Butthead (or for that matter anything on MTV until i was around 14.)
Blossom-I never was allowed to watch it until it was in Syndication i'm not sure what they had against it
Sally Jesse Raphel, Oprah, Geroldo and Ricki Lake Show-but i did anyways

And my dad didn't want me watching Soap operas but my mom let me because she watched them.

My mother used to not want me watching Cheers or Married with Children (until i was around 10, then she stopped caring)

but my dad would let me watch them whenever she wasnt home. i watched Cheers with him all the time- which he never thought she would find out about- but lo and behold my very first memory is of watching Cheers w/ my dad.

busted.
