I agree about the put downs that 50s sit-coms took place in never never land. Beaver had some pretty realistic themes once in awhile. The show was also big on stuff like don't embarrass your family, do the right thing and listen to your consciece. When Ward gave those lectures to Beav I really listened and learned when I was a kid.

Of course one of my favorite episodes is "In the Soup" like most everyone's. And I'm not sure I even know exactly why. It's brilliant and that expensive prize winning billboard really does it!

But why hasn't anyone mentioned "Wally's Haircombe?" I still roll on the floor laughing when the rock and roll musical bits come in, and when little Beaver comes down the stairs at the end with his new jelly roll hair style, it's a moment that can't be matched, I think.

My other favorite is when that wonderful Miss Landers come to dinner, which someone else mentioned. It's a quiet but beautiful episode. Who wouldn't love the opportunity to have Miss Landers over for dinner. I even wrote down what they ate that night in some trivia notes. Nice seeing the Cleaver backyard on a summer night too.

There are many, but one I die laughing at is the one where Beav is suppose to give away his train set to Jimmy Bassen. After cleaning them up, Beav wants to keep them, but doesn't know how to tell Ward and June. Wally is suppose to stall Jimmy off when he comes to get them. Instead, Jimmy's older sister, Georgia Bassen, comes over and sweet talks Wally into getting them for her. Besides that scene being funny, it keeps going when Beaver comes home with Gilbert and they find out Wally gave them away.

Gilbert: ..."What did she do Wally? Knock you down and take them away from you?"

(Addressed to Beav) Gilbert: ..."Why did you have to have a lover boy for a brother?"

It has to be Wally's haircomb, because it is one of the rare times June ever blows up!

This is such a difficult question to answer!! I've got SOOOO many favorite episodes to pick & choose from. One of my favorite episodes was where Beaver was asked to bring in a picture of when he was a baby to school and June submitted a picture of Beaver posed in the buff. Poor little Beaver thought it was the end of his life as he knew it. Once again, Ward came to the rescue!! He compromised by cutting off the embarrassing part of the picture!! I sometimes thought June was a bit naive.

There are so many classic Beaver episodes, as many others have said! I love "Beaver's Accordian" when the boys hide the accordian in the hall closet so Ward and June don't find out, and June can't get the door open to the closet and when she finally opens the door, the accordian bounces down the steps. Meanwhile, Ward is talking to the accordian guy downstars (Mr. Franklin) telling him they never sent away for an accordian! After it hits the bottom of the stairs, June, in surprised astonishment says....."Ward! It's an accordian!" and Ward says...."We've already identified it dear!."

I like "In the Soup", "Beaver won't eat", and the one where he get's stuck in the principal's office where he thinks there is a spanking machine in the closet (title please?) and later he gets his head stuck in the fence!

That episode was called "The Price of Fame." It was quite hilarious, to say the least!!

I also loved the "Train Trip" episode where Wally & Beaver realized they used up their money on junk food and didn't have enough $$$$$ to get back home. So they made up that story about Ward falling out of an airplane and Aunt Martha living in a poor house!! What imaginations!!!

What about another classic guys....When the boys first meet Lumpy for the first time. (The episode titled, "Lumpy Rutherford") The barrelhoops scene!! The boys trap the driveway with barrelhoops trying to get Lumpy to come out and call out......"Hey meathead!"...."meathead"....."Lumpy dumpy the big ape." Mrs. Rutherford and Fred are eating breakfast and Fred says, "Sounds like someone calling for Clarence." Mrs. Rutherford hears, "Hey Meathead!" and says, "Might be for you dear!" and Fred comes out and falls down on the barrelhoops!
