I'm split right down the middle here. I do understand the Tina resents being typecasted as Ginger. Who wouldn't be upset? Just imagine everytime you went to go on an acting job and everybody saw you as Ginger Grant. I do understand that it must've made her very upset. I'm sure it didn't help matters any when fans came up to you and yelled Ginger, almost like Tina Louise didn't even exist. I guess when she took on the Ginger role, Tina Louise ceased to exist in the fans eyes.
The only thing I disagree about is, if Tina was mean to the cast- that wasn't exactly right. I wasn't there during the filming of GI, so I don't know who to believe. Maybe Tina was polite to everybody, or maybe she did have her bitchy days. Who knows? I'm pretty sure that unless you worked on GI then you'll never know.

Sorry I made anybody mad with my post, but this is just my opinion. Sorry this is so long also!

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

[Eddie and Lumpy suppress laughter]

Cool

Why were all the scenes involving Tina Louise always showing her in a bad light?
To be fair, shouldn't they have shown some good scenes involving her. I also can't believe that Bob and Dawn were always goody two shoes! Most of the "goody two shoes' that I have known can be just as nasty and mean to others as anyone. Of course, you wouldn't see Dawn Wells(Miss Perfect) show anything like that or anything bad about Bob Denver. However, there was that marijuana incident that some say Dawn Wells had a part in, but of course you can't expect them to make themselves look bad!

You could be right, but I've NEVER heard that one, that Dawn had something to do with the drugs. That seems kinda unlikely, since they found them growing in Bob's backyard, and it was only he and Dreama who confessed to using it. Dawn was never mentioned. True, they didn't show any of the bad things that Dawn did, but she seems to be a really sweet person in real life. I certainly could be wrong, and nobody's perfect, but they could have been a lot meaner to Tina than they were.

I understand what you are trying to say - It is just like Kim fields she doesnt want to be known as TOOTIE anymore But to be loyal to all of her fans she is doing a reunion movie - What people are just trying to say is tina doesnt have to act the way she does sometimes...she chooses to...OKAY BUHBYEZ

Cool

Can I just take a moment and laugh? I mean you guys started out fighting and through it all have come to an agreement...or so it seems. I'm not taking sides in this, I'd just love to see Tina come here and see how much she's loved. I don't mean that sarcastically either, because if you think about it, even harassment or whatever you want to call the first post not only shows that someone cares about what's being said, but that everyone has noticed what an uprising the Tina fans have done.

I read through all the posts and I still don't have an opinion on the matter, I just had to post and say you made me laugh. Thanks.

It's funny how hyped up people get when talking about Ginger vs. Mary Ann... and it's funny how personally people take negative things said about a TV show or a character they like... (e.g. Try criticizing "Facts of Life" on THAT board, see how long you live) :-)

Being a guy, I'm totally superficial when it comes to Ginger vs. Mary Ann...IMHO, Dawn was not only better looking than Tina during the run of the show, but she's also much better looking today...I mean, Dawn in short-shorts vs. Tina in a crummy evening gown...in Dick Vitale's words, that's an "NC" (no contest) :-)

Two other reasons I like Dawn better:

1) She's nicer
2) She runs an acting school for people who want to get into show business (either stage or screen). I think it's cool that she wants to help others. Heck, I may go to that school myself someday, just to meet her :-)

And, I don't care WHAT Tina says about how the producers lied to her about her being the star of the show, I think she just heard what she wanted to hear from them...As they say, the show was called "Gilligan's Island" not "Ginger's Island".
