Anyone can take a bunch of crappy projects, and I am sure that if Dawn Wells wanted to do some crappy B-movies, she could have had roles WRITTEN for her. Former famous sitcom stars are the type of things that B-movie producers and directors love if they can find the right role, it gives them a little name recognition.

Tina was just a bitter woman who tried to make it look like she moved on, but, in truth, she was just a jerk.

Question

Not to start a riot here or anything (again I'm laughing at how it went this time from a discussion on Entertainment Tonight to completely about Tina and her movie career or lack thereof) but can I ask a question?

Does it really make it better if a person does hundreds of movies or things if they aren't worth the film it's printed on? When did quantity take over quality?

Ignore this post if you like, I was just thinking out loud I guess.

First of all, Producer Sherwood Schwartz owns the rights to "Gilligan's Island", not Dawn Wells. Therefore, it was not Dawn's responsibility (nor does she have the authority) to offer Tina Louise a part in any "Gilligan's Island" project. For some reason, there are a number of people posting items on the Gilligan's Island message board attempting to slander or discredit Dawn Wells. I don't understand this. From everything I've read and seen, Dawn Wells is a genuinely decent, honest, and caring person. My guess is that some of these "Tina" fans have built up a resentment against her because of the legendary "Ginger versus Mary Ann" polls over the years in which men prefer Mary Ann by about a 10 to 1 margin. I think a "Tina Louise versus Dawn Wells" poll would yield the same results.

I don't want to seem like I'm suporting Tinasmylife, just clearing up something. Dawn Wells WAS the Executive Producer of the recent "Surviving Gilligan's Island: The Longest Three-Hour Tour Ever", and Tinasmylife fan was talking about that project, in which Dawn, as EP, was more than likely key in the selection of actors and actresses.

PPatters: I must admit I did not know that Dawn Wells was the Executive Producer for the recent TV movie. Thanks for clarifying that point for me (and I am sincere when I say that).

Be that as it may, I don't think Tina Louise would have participated in the movie had Dawn Wells approached her about this. Tina has spent the last 30 years distancing herself from any association with the show (not to mention all of the bad blood that has existed between her and the other cast members). Why would Tina suddenly have a change of heart after all these years?

Despite all of that though, Dawn wasn't responsible for casting, nor did she write the script. Please remember that.

Almost ALL executive producers are VERY actively involved in casting the main characters and in approving the scripts. Meaning: If Dawn wanted Tina, she could have gotten them to make a script with Tina in it and could have ATTEMPTED (though probably it wouldn't have worked) to get Tina. EP's have a LOT of POWER, especially in television and television movies.

That is EXACALLY my point! I mean sure! she wouldn't have done the film, BUT it's the fact that they never asked her and then went to the public saying the did offer her a script but she turned them down.

Umm.. NO. If they were going to offer her a part, they would have to make a script to include her. If they think she's going to say no, they are not going to PAY WRITERS money to make a script they're going to have to DUMP! That would be dumb, and if you think that they should waste money just for Tina Louise to get some sort of odd satisfaction from knowing she got to TURN THEM DOWN, then that's just MEAN.
