"Tim Allen Presents: A Users Guide to Home Improvement" finally has an air date and will air Tuesday, April 1 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
TIM ALLEN AND THE GANG FROM “TOOL TIME” REUNITE IN “TIM ALLEN PRESENTS: A USER’S GUIDE TO HOME IMPROVEMENT,” AIRING TUESDAY, APRIL 1 ON ABC It’s been four years since “Home Improvement,” one of the most popular and beloved family comedies of the ‘90s and one of ABC’s most successful comedy shows, has been on the air. In “Tim Allen Presents: A User’s Guide To Home Improvement,” cast members return in a one-hour special that reunites Tim Allen as Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor, Richard Karn as “Tool Time” sidekick Al Borland and Debbe Dunning as Heidi The “Tool Time” Girl, airing TUESDAY, APRIL 1 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. For eight years “Home Improvement” chronicled the trials and tribulations of the Taylor family and its patriarch, Tim Taylor, the accident-prone host of a local home-improvement cable show, “Tool Time.” Tim’s cohorts on “Tool Time” included Al Borland (Karn), who calmly withstood Tim’s wisecracks, and Heidi The “Tool Time” Girl (Dunning), who always opened up “Tool Time” with, “Does everybody know what ‘time’ it is?” In the one-hour special, Tim Allen presents his own favorite clips, show bloopers and personal reflections while referring to his handbook, “A User’s Guide To Home Improvement.” With help from deejay Casey Sander and announcer Earl Hindman (Wilson), Tim explains where the inspiration for his manifesto on male improvement came from, as well as his affinity for trying to fix mechanical things and give them more power. Through clips, Tim shows how his TV persona managed to break, blow-up or otherwise destroy whatever he was working on – misfortunes most often witnessed by the viewers of “Tool Time.” During one demonstration on “Tool Time,” Tim hit his head on the table he was working on, which then became instantly glued to his forehead. In “Home Improvement,” Tim’s antics weren’t limited to the confines of his cable show but often managed to find their way into the Taylor home, causing his loving wife, Jill (Patricia Richardson), and their three sons (Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Zachery Ty Bryan and Taran Noah Smith) to run for cover at the first sign of the hardware-hungry husband and dad donning his tool belt. Though Tim and Jill share a great love for each other, their communication abilities were sometimes at odds, and several clips are provided to reflect that, including a memorable moment when they are in a female urologist’s office to discuss Tim getting a vasectomy. “Home Improvement,” which ranked as a Top-10 television program from its debut in 1991 until its final episode in 1999, garnered nine People’s Choice Awards (including one for Favorite New Comedy Series and three for Favorite Comedy Series) and 26 Emmy Award nominations. The series starred Tim Allen as Tim Taylor, Patricia Richardson as Jill Taylor, Earl Hindman as Wilson, Jonathan Taylor Thomas as Randy Taylor, Zachery Ty Bryan as Brad Taylor, Taran Noah Smith as Mark Taylor, Richard Karn as Al Borland and Debbe Dunning as Heidi The “Tool Time” Girl. The production team for “Tim Allen Presents: A User’s Guide To Home Improvement” includes executive producers Matt Williams, David McFadzean, Carmen Finestra and Tim Allen. Andy Cadiff is director. The special is produced by Wind Dancer Films, Boxing Cat Films and Touchstone Television. A TV parental guideline will be posted closer to airdate. |
