I got into trouble for saying the word "ass" in fifth grade. I didn't know the teacher was right behind me when I said it... LOL

Tap Dancer,
That's funny -- when I was in the fifth grade, I got in trouble for drawing a picture of somebody's "ass." I got yelled at by the teacher. The girl who snitched on me to the teacher eventually became a politician in town and then died . . . too young.

Later,
Art

I can't imagine Wally saying to Beaver, "I don't think you can even say that to dad."

Naw it wasn’t Jackass they say that in Young Mr. Lincoln in the 30’s. If June didn’t like Wally using flip, ape, flakey and kooky she wouldn’t want to hear ass****.

Let’s not forget when Larry listened to Beaver’s composition about June dancing in dives and was heard saying Go~damn. It got by the censors.

Well if he said ja*ka*s that's one thing, but if he said as*h*le I can see Wally saying not to say it to dad.

I never knew about the gd in the beer joints and dives interview. I'm gonna have to pay more attention.

Larry says it under his breath but it’s so obvious by how he mouths it and it’s quiet when he says it. Someone pointed it out recently.

I couldn't believe this at first (it sounded so much like an urban legend) so I checked it out, and it is true! I must admit it was a bit of a shock. What probably happened was, the director instructed the kids to utter spontaneous reactions of surprise, and Rusty just spoke that phrase naturally, without thinking. He says it not like a curse, but just an expression of gleeful surprise, and it is nearly covered up by the other kids' voices. Maybe it's what his parents would have said around the house.

Just to be clear, most of the thread is about the final episode of season 4, "Substitute Father."

This comment, in response to another post by Scrabjan1, is about the third season episode, "Mother's Day Composition." The class was expressing amazement as Beaver read his made-up composition about June's occupation before she was married.
