dude, with all the technology that came out in the ast 17 years, I can only assume by then we'll have the time to have built a super laser and we'll end up blasing the friggen thing. I mean seriously the second they say "It will hit definately" everyone will do everything they can to avoid it. And if that Idea doesnt work........ I DONT WANNA DIE.

An asteroid or comet will one day impact the earth. It's not a matter of if but when. Objects have collided with our planet countless thousands of times over the millenia. Several of these impacts have caused unimaginable global catastrophes. Other, smaller impacts have caused intense climatic changes, believed to be responsible for the falls of several prevalent ancient cultures. Planet earth is like a large target in a shooting gallery. No, it isn't a pleasant or cheery thought, but it is the reality of our tenuous hold on life. We as humans can't control everything. Should we go around worrying about it? Certainly not. I'm just thankful that we have the technology to give us at least some advance warning of an impending impact. If we are unable to stop it, at least we will be able to plan where we want to be before the end of everything.
