In that case, I want you to immediatley turn your TV to ABC at 12:00pm (central) on Monday because "All My Children" got 21 nomination at this years Daytime Emmys. If you say no, I should have to repeat your little paragraph back to you.

I HATE FRIENDS
NOTHING YOU COULD SAY OR DO WILL MAKE ME LIKE IT
NOW PLEASE JUST SHUT UP ABOUT IT AND STOP TRYING TO MAKE ME LIKE IT BECAUSE I NEVER EVER WILL! OK? If it's so popular I think it would have stayed for another seasons, but of course the greedy 'stars' on the show want more money........those spoiled little twits.

im not gonna turn on a soap, cos i dont watch soap. I cant believe people hate so much of friends, but they will turn on crap like Will & Grace,Skrubs,King of the hill & Gillians island. We have our differences in comedy. im not trying to make u liked the show, why dont u shut up about hating the show. As long as ur gonna hate it, im gonna like the show & theres something u can do about it.

Why shouldnt the stars get more money? If I could get a million for doing the same thing id done for 9 years, then id do it. I think your just jealous that the shows you watch arent as popular.

If you don't like soaps, good for you. BUT I DON'T LIKE FRIENDS!
Can't you just deal with that? IT'S MY DAMN OPINION! If you are trying to change my opinion, you are evil. Now can I hate Friends without everyone AGRAVATING ME TO DEATH?!?!??!?! Gosh, just get over the damn show, OK? You keep saying that there are shows people are gonna hate that others love. You clearly don't understand that yourself!
And I think every soap is better than Friends

Well, relative to the fact that its a free country where you have freedom of speech within reason, I agree with you. For one man's crap is another man's Nirvana (not the famous Kurt Cobain band). In this case, to be fair, I'd say that the above poster's Friends comment concerned "Frequency of Airings" and not the "Content". For:

Did u ever wonder why the networks play so much of friends? RATING! thats all its ever about. Ratings have a part, yes, but then again they don't tell the whole story. For many shows w/modest ratings have had HUGE success in Cathode Ray Tube and Pop Culture. Facts of Life and Brady Bunch for example.

Thats right, no one gives a crap about ur old different strokes. I give a care about Diff'rent Strokes. And ultimately in the grand scheme of things, the General Public did. Diff'rent Strokes was HOT for a time in Pop Culture, w/Some Ratings before the Cosby Show came along and relegated Diff'rent Strokes to ABC.

And opinions are just that: One's opinion. I can take this message board, look over it, and say Facts of Life is the best show EVER; better than anybody! How? Count how many people post on that board! Only thing is, its my opinion based on a subjective figure of # of Hits in the FOL Board. Amen. And the Nielsen Ratings are the Exact Same Thing. For Madison Avenue is God and A C Nielsen is His Prophet.

Its lived it time, people would rather watch current shows like friends than ur reruns. Well, I would rather watch Retro Stuff from the 50's, 60's, and 70's w/the decent 80's stuff thrown in.

dont complain about the networks,OK yell at ur cable, Nick At Nite for not playing it.Nick at Nite is a network. And you wanna hear the kicker about it all.... in 10 years from now, u will be watching Friends on Nick At NiteNot likely... u know why? Rating!!!

People like to watch current reruns than OLD reruns because the show is still fresh.Glad you said that. Actually, the 90's shows like Friends, Seinfeld, etc are...let's see...based on 20 somethings in a big city living Yuppie Lives w/other Yuppies. Usually New York. I'd say myself that once you've seen one 90's Sitcom, you've seen them all. Amen. But Good Times (inner city) and AITF (working class in Queens) and Brady Bunch (suburbs of CAL) and Gomer Pyle (military living) and Andy Griffith (small town) among other older shows have LOTS of Variety; LOTS of Environments.

Different Strokes isnt Fresh anymore. I bet i could ask a 100 people if they ever watched Different Strokes & 75 would say "What?"And I could take the # of Hits on the FOL message board here and say to you and Pavanbadal and everybody "Facts of Life is the Best Show on Earth!". And you know something? It'd be just fine cause that's my opinion. Wouldn't necessarily be right, but it still has Editorial License. But in this case, Evidence is the Best Teacher. And through Years of Living, I'd guess that either you work for a Network doing Surveys, or you're just "Gilding The Lily" or Exaggerating.

Friends is probably one of the best shows in history. We'd have to look through an Encyclopedia's worth of Ratings Books, but I'd wager other shows are Just as Good or Better

It had the best #1 rating since it aired. It kept its orginal cast (for a price). I find it the ONLY good show left. Im a HUGE classic sitcom fan and Friends is a classic Sitcom. Its very funny. I dont understand why people call friends "CRAP" cos its really not. These Networks wouldnt be paying millions for these characters to make crap. Oh but people in Business overpay all the time. Alex Rodriguez of the Texas Rangers makes 250 Million, but the team is Very Bad (below 500). For the Rangers to do better, A Rod will have to take a pay cut so's they can get more Pitching and Better Field Players. Che ki (Who Knows?). Maybe the Friends people just took advantage of a Good Economy

Maybe if u didnt get so hung up on hating the networks & watch a few episodes, u might like it. Dont judge something. I love Different Strokes & Facts of Life just as much as you do... but you gotta understand what the people like & laugh at & want. If i asked 10 people if they rather see Friends or Different Strokes. 8 would say Friends. I would say alot of shows are crap out there.. but people are watchin it, so i watch it too... and ya know what? sometimes the people are right and it is pretty good and other times ur sayin "who laughs at this?"... ur gonna always hate a show somebody loves & love a show somebody hates...

You cant compare Friends Vs the Facts of life, cos its TOTALLY different. Its a different time period, their nothing alike & u got whole new crowd of people with TVs, senses of humor and opinon.

I would say that this person and others may be commenting on how OFTEN the Same REPITITIOUS Content comes on (Friends, Cheers, or even GASP! The Brady Bunch in the Past). I myself would like to see more content and not the same old recycled Reruns. Amen. But to be fair, I'll ask anybody else this: If Friends Is Crap, Why Is It So? What deficits have manifested themselves? Any reading on the Glascow Coma Scale?
I get by with a little help from my Friends:

Brady Grid

TALLguyinKY, hating does not make me feel good. And like I said, my opinon of the show has no bearing on its popularity. The fact that it is popular is something I hate, but that's separate.

If you go to the "Friends" board you will see a message posted by me. It was intended for this board but they sent it to the Friends board. Then I complaind and get this reply "I make the rules. It goes where I say it goes." What kind of answer is that? Anyway I digress.

What do you think of the TV show "Friends". I don't hate it or like it. First the show does not have any minorities. I live in New York and I am pround to live in one of the most racial and culturial diversified citites in the world. The show gives New York a bad name.

The show is a Seinfeld wannabe. Like Seinfeld it tried to reinvent the human language, had bizare contests but bushleague compaired to they contest.

Also it is very unoriginal. In the beginning of the second season Ross meets a girl named Julie just as Rachel wants to tell him something about them. The exact same thing happened in the beginning of the fourth season of a Different World.

But "Seinfeld" was about the character's pettiness and selfishness, whereas "Friends" plays on their vulnerabilities and relationships. The NBC 75th anniversary book even stressed differences like that between the two, which I was glad to see.

And "Friends" is quite original. You can't show me any duplications of some of the characters, particularly Phoebe. She's 1 in a million, and I commend the writers for makin' such a unique, never-before-seen character.

i totally agree. The characters are totally different from what others may think. They are unique. I think there are alot of characters out there who compare much more to other shows than what friends does. Who could u compare Monica,Pheobe,Rachel,Ross,Joey & Chandler with?

What shows do u think of that are getting old for syndication. EVERY frickin' network like syndicated WB, UPN, WGN, and TBS are always picking up the same damn show! I don't get why they are doing that? Are they like working together to torment us?

Oh, and was Caroline in the city on CBS or NBC?
Lots of cable stations and sydication companies pick up the same shows because they do good in the ratings for those networks. Friends for instance is the highest rated Sitcom in syndication and that is one of the reasons I beleive TBS picked it up. Cause they knew it would get great ratings for them. Also Roseanne in syndication does well that is why TBS picked it up and why Oxygen and Nick at Nite both are going to pick Roseanne up.

That is also why Home Improvement is went to TBS.

No, I can deal with it- I hate Friends too. And I too would rather watch any given soap opera over Friends.

But I hate "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" even worse than Friends. Sorry to anyone who's a fan of it, but I hate it. I don't understand how a show like that survives, much less do I understand why it's popular. We already have a classic sitcom about witches (Bewitched), and Bewitched was an awesome show. Even harder for me to believe is that Barbara Eden, best known as "Jeannie," is a supporting actress on "Sabrina....."
