You sound like me. After the "reasons" they gave for not including the orange socks murders segment...which is still unsolved to this day.

I subscribe to the WWE Network, and I am flummoxed at times when we get an edit due to damage to tapes since many of us nerds have original copies on VHS, DVD and youtube that they could snag and use.

Random thought - Durham’s death and statute of limitations issues (depending on what the driver of the truck could be charged with) are probably what is holding this segment up.

Does the Network use that awful generic entrance music to avoid making royalty payments? Makes me laugh-I have a ridiculous collection of VHS from pretty much every company/territory in the US, Japan & Mexico from the 1980's & 1990's & that back then you could just use Guns & Roses, Black Sabbath, Metallica etc without the record companies caring.

What reasons did they give for that? They showed that one on Lifetime, didn't they? I seem to recall seeing it somewhat recently. Either Lifetime or Spike I suppose.

Most definitely. Even worse, they have lost the rights to music THEY created so guys like Hillbilly Jim now have generic themes.

I couldn't work out why they didn't use the Jim Johnston stuff like Dusty's theme for the last decade plus-thank goodness I have them on tape from Sky & those DVD compilations where the music is intact.

Wasn't it something ridiculous like "We couldn't find an episode where it could fit", as in to meet the runtime?

True, but to use something it has to be broadcast quality. Not something full of VHS tracking from an old copied and recopied tape.

It does seem odd though given how many times the show was cut and recut that something like that could be gone though. 60 minute versions, 30 minute versions, versions with normal intros, versions with lifetime intros, NSTC versions, PAL versions, etc. I bet it exists somewhere, probably in a syndication package, but digging through to find it wasn't worth the effort to them. (Unless they junked the Stack packages, maybe this is why Lifetime airs the Spike version now?)

Yeah, so dumb.

The easiest answer was to cut back the updates for it. When you've included the update at the end of the segment, do you need to repeat that same update footage several episodes later? It's nice to maintain the aspect of real time updates from the original, but not if you're losing segments.
