How much music did shout factory clear for the one day at a time complete DVD series - Page 2 - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Shout Factory is truly One of the best outside studios that I highly respect as well as admire because as I have said I trust them as well as time life who continue to defy all expectations when it came to doing what they are known for doing hopefully they will release which I would love to see them get is Murphy Brown which I believe they can get but nobody knows the mind of Shout Factory but I hope that they themselves will continue to release old shows with everything intact because studios nowdays will not take a chance or a gamble on it

I wish Murphy Brown would be released one way or another. I just want it complete on DVD.

Is it on the set unedited? I guess you could call it parody and they wouldn't need to clear it...

So far on my watching schedule (episode a day, from the beginning) I've seen the brief playing of Elton's Rocket Man and Schneider singing a snippet of Baby, It's Cold Outside (which may or may not be public domain??)

I have a question whenever shows are converted onto the DVD wouldn't the studio themselves have to get the footages from the original master tapes and when does the music clearance becomes a factor

It's the use of the music elements - either recordings and/or performances that have to be cleared by the company who puts it out on DVD - either the studio that owns it or a 3rd party that licences the show. It's not about the footage itself. More recent shows have such things worked into contracts from day one useage, older shows is much more complicated.

There's the performance, the original musical recording, and the publishing that all have to be aligned.

There are others that can explain this in more detail.

I was reading on Amazon that a customer reviewer who bought the complete series of one day at a time had said every episode is uncut and unedited with all of the music being intact as I said I didn't know that the show was known for music only personal issues hey does anybody know whether or not one day at a time had a Saturday morning cartoons shows

Don't believe everything you read on Amazon. Shout Factory might have been able to clear all the music, but every episode is not uncut. Two episodes, "So Long Mom" from season 5, and "A Tiny Romance" from season 6, are 22 minute, edited for syndication versions. Both episodes appear to have something cut/edited right at the beginning, so I imagine the first minute or two of these episodes is probably what's missing.

I have not brought the DVD but since all of the music was cleared as well as being intact who was doing the performance of these songs
because I know that the mother didnt sing it is kind of wiered wherefore again the series was based on a mother and her two daughters living a normal life and dealing with reality life issues an someday said that there was a unaired pilot episode I was searching it
On YouTube and didn't happen to find it I didn't know that there was a unaired pilot I had asked this previousely did they have a spin off Saturday morning cartoons show

Which sounds like how they edited for CBS Daytime reruns...

Could be. When watching both episodes on the DVD, it definitely appears like something is deleted/edited right at the beginning after the opening credits.

The lady who sang the theme song for One Day at a Time a country singer because the song itself sounded country and I saw the songs on YouTube where Juiley and Barbera are singing don't go breaking my heart and two songs that Juiley an Steve Bono was performing.
