Ward Always Finds Out!

I wish that Ward had become angry with George Haskell by telling Haskell that he should have offered to pay for the boys' tickets when the conductor came to collect the money, instead of just sitting there and getting a big laugh out of it.

I am sure that if Eddie was in the same situation as Wally and Beaver were on that train, that Ward or June would have interceded in Eddie's behalf and paid for the train ticket.

George Haskell came off as a real jerk in that situation, imo.

I never thought of that. George Haskell knew the boys and should have stepped in. I wonder why he didn't. Probably so we could see the generous old conductor give them a break.

Ward finds out from Mr. Doyle that Beaver was dropped from the basketball team. Unfortunately Fred is there to gloat about it which embarrasses Ward. Beaver had been pretending to be at practice.

Some "adult", sees boys he knows having a problem, and just sits back and watches the "fun."

And George thought that June would be "amused" by hearing all about the boys' experience on the train.

I can't blame Ward for NOT wanting big mouth George to "regale" June with a story which Ward knew would only get June very upset.

On Uncle Billy's visit, Ward never found out that Beaver helped his friend sneak into the movie, because Uncle Billy couldn't see any reason to tell him, because beaver already got caught and punished.

How about when Mr. Davenport, the librarian, called Ward about the library card and overdue book. Also the banker calls Ward in Lost Watch that Beaver tried to “deem” his bond to pay Lumpy back. Extortion!!

In the Leave It To Beaver episodes, the writers were always creating "convenient" ways for Ward to find out about mischief the boys were in.

Getting back to the Train Trip episode, I agree, George Haskell should have paid for the boys train fares after he saw and found out what was going on, since he "conveniently" happened to be on the train also. But I guess the episode writers wanted the conductor guy to be the hero.

When Ward found out what happened from Mr. Haskell, he should have told him, "Why didn't you just go ahead and pay for the boys tickets? I would have paid you back!"

Mr. Haskell did come off as a bit of a jerk in the episode, but maybe the writers wanted it that way, Eddie could be a jerk too sometimes, so as the saying goes, like father like son.

LOL at the part where Beaver tells the train conductor that his father is in the hospital because he fell out of an airplane.

The train conductor is played by veteran character actor Joseph Crehan, I didn't recognize him immediately because of the mustache, in other movies/shows I've seen him in he's always clean shaven.

I don’t think anything was mentioned when Beaver did Richard’s laundry and overflowed the machine. Ward knows something went on but chose to ignore the situation when June realizes her starch and detergent are gone and tells Ward. She got a clean floor so what the heck.

Post 25 is interesting. I never thought about the fact that Ward should have asked George why he didn't pay the fare.

Another situation: When Bill Boothby saw the boys pushing Ward's car at the end of the Camel Back Cutoff, why didn't he stop to help? Without Boothby's blabbing, Ward would not have found out about that situation.

I thought the same thing except Boothby wasn’t in a car but on a bus. I guess he saw them pushing and recognized the boys.

Bill should have pulled out his phone and called the auto club for them.

Sometimes they show them pushing and other times they edit it out. Funny how Eddie gets to drive and Wally, Lumpy and Beaver push. Reminds me of Barney’s new car and how he takes everyone for a Sunday ride and it conks out. They show Aunt Bee pushing the car but it’s a double.
