Jenny Pratt's mother. She pretty much alluded to the fact that she would rather have Jenny died in the accident as opposed to living the way she is now. She also came off as a bit cold when they were being interviewed at the telecenter.

I was bothered that Diane seemed to have great hostility towards people she believed knew what happened, but either didn't come forward or had said they knew something and changed their story. Well, I guess she didn't realize two important things: 1) that said witnesses/people who knew what happened were probably in great fear of their own lives, and 2) that said people were also very young. How much blame can she put on somebody who is in grade school and is probably in fear of being killed if they say something. It just seemed she was angry at EVERYONE when all of her anger should have been directed at those responsible. |

I understand everyone's criticism of Jenny Pratt's mother, but I can sympathize with her a little. All parents hope for the best for their kids, that they'll grow up and make happy families of their own, but thanks to some stupid kids, Jenny will be forever dependent upon her parents and everyone else. You can't blame her mother for being angry about that. She also probably finds herself wondering what could have been. It's easy to romanticize special-needs patients, but truth be told, however much Jenny's mom loved her, that didn't change the fact that caring for her, would be a difficult and often unpleasant job. I suppose you can say something similar about caring for a baby, but the thing is, regarding a baby, with each passing day, you see the baby get a little smarter and stronger, and you know you won't be doing some of the more unpleasant tasks (like changing diapers) forever. I imagine that some of Diane's anger comes not just from the fact some stupid kid stunt derailed her daughter's life forever, but the knowledge that she knows Jenny will not get better. Jenny will forever be dependent on others to care for her.
I thought about bringing up Franklin Delano Floyd, but referring to him as "least sweetest..." that feels piddling and inadequate compared with the massive evil inherent in that men, like referring to Hitler as slightly genocidal or the Middle Passage as an unpleasant cruise. I know, people are going to get onto me for invoking Godwin's Law but I stand by my inflammatory metaphor and/or simile. Because I hate Franklin Delano Floyd with a fervor I reserve for few other people and I feel a need to spread my hated feelings around, lest we forget that Franklin Delano Floyd is the type of person for whom not only is our profane vocabulary insignificant in describing him, but no punishment, however harsh, seems fitting as well. |

I can certainly see how losing the person that your child was, added to financial ruin would or could really make someone bitter. I hope Diane is in a better place mentally now. |

Ugh, the boyfriend of Tara Breckenridge, the woman who disappeared in Houston. He said , "only God can judge me" or something like that.

Yup. To paraphrase Awsi, I'd place some solid odds on Hecker being the culprit.
