M*A*S*H is my all-time favorite show, but yes, there is some truth in what you said.

Well, Cole slaw is pretty easy to make, and the ingredients are cheap and would be readily available. Cabbage, carrot, and mayonnaise. In Korea, just eat the Kimshee. Kimshee kicks ass. If you don't like the heat (and a lot of them are not hot), it can be easily subtracted.

I wouldn't think beans would be much of a trick either. Didn't the military feed a lot of beans to the troops? My beans are just Heinz Baked beans, a squirt of Heinz (because Hunts sucks) BBQ sauce, some fresh or cooked finely sliced onions and finely sliced bell peppers.

The ribs would be the most difficult in that Universe simply because it takes a period of time to cook them and smoke them correctly (could build a meat smoker if they can make a gin still), but the smell would be intoxicating to the rest of the camp vs. probably the scarcity of meat, "having liver and fish 14 days in a row".

There was nothing entertaining or educational about the Alan Alda penned MASH episodes.

Agree. Though AA penned SOME good ones, many were moralistic. His constant whining about how bad war is, why can't we all get along, etc., quickly became annoying.

Some people just never get it. Who are sheltered Hollywood liberals to teach anyone anything?

Agreed. The series should have ended after Radar left.

The show was really a shell of itself after.

Though it was declining even when Radar was there, it still had its moments.

While there were some funny eps, like the one where everyone has insomnia during a heat wave, too many trite scripts ruined the later seasons.

The departure of Larry Linville really hurt the show.
Even his last season wasn't great because of the weaker writing & the emasculating of his character.

The question is where were the going to store the side of beef? When they got it, they put it in the shower to thaw it out. In the early 50s they would be eating canned rations from WW2.

Even Larry Gelbart acknowledged they were shortchaging Larry Linville, because the character wouldn't be capable of growing like the others.

Larry Linville said once a fan asked him why his character didn't evolved he replied by saying "What do you want him to be, Alan Alda?"
