Watching "Up All Night" when I was a youngster.

I think the first time I saw A Nightmare On Elm Street was when ol' Gilbert played it one night. LOL.

USA Network sure has come a long way. When it first began as "The Madison Square Garden Network", it was a Sports network, kinda like ESPN. In fact, the first few years under the "USA Network" name were also all about sports, as well. It wasn't until the early 1980's, when Paramount/Gulf+Western replaced UA-Columbia Cablevision as MCA/Universal's co-owner, that it largely became an entertainment network.

That's right- I remember that the USA Channel was where I first saw the first season episodes of "Saved By The Bell: The New Class"- I didn't discover that show on NBC until somewhere about the 4th. Season or so- and of course, the cast from the 4th. season was completely different from the 1st. season (save for Mr. Belding)- so I was really confused when I first saw those first season episodes. Years later from that, I got all the seasons on DVD and I've watched the whole series in order- love watching SBTB:TNC just as much as all the other SBTB series- great, fun show.

What do I associate when I watch the USA Network?

* Reruns of NCIS, Law & Order: SVU, sometimes CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and now NCIS: Los Angeles.

* Some of their original series, such as Monk, Psych, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, White Collar, In Plain Sight, Covert Affairs, and Suits.

* The slogan "Characters Welcome", as well as the "Characters Welcome" brand.

* WWE Monday Night Raw, a longtime staple of the network for two decades, except during the early- to mid-2000s decade when it was on TNN/Spike TV.

Has NCIS: Los Angeles really underperformed on USA Network?

USA Network had signed a syndication deal back in late 2009 that was going to see the series reran five days a week starting in September 2013. But right now, you can only find reruns of NCIS: LA on late Mondays around two hours after WWE Raw.

Also, I wonder when is the next time USA Network acquires syndication rights to rerun a broadcast TV series? The channel has marathons of Law & Order: SVU four to five days a week, and that is probably because SVU is produced by corporate siblings of USA Network (NBC and Universal TV).

Haven't watched this channel in years. No variety. I miss the days of the Super Stations.

It also aired reruns of Quantum Leap for a while and though I do love that show too- the main show I remember being on the USA channel is MacGyver! I loved the USA promos for MacGyver- I still recall the jingle they had to advertise the show- "MacGyver- what's he doing with that thing?".... and after someone would be singing that, the announcer would come on saying, "Find out what he is doing with that thing on MacGyver at 4 pm weekdays..."
And that channel also used to have a ton of cool game shows that I loved watching- my main favorites: Press Your Luck, Scrabble, Tic Tac Dough and Name That Song. The Joker's Wild and Hollywood Squares are great too.
I believe you meant to type "Name That Tune".
