That's her mother in real life. And her father was the member of Kool and The Gang. And you are SO right about the producers making her the sassy black girl. She can have the looks, good grades, but that's not enough. Let's make her a sassy black bitch for the public to hate simply because she's brown. They don't want to see a brown skinned and dark skinned wholesome black female teenager in the show. It's stereotypical. I wouldn't call her dark because she's not as dark as Harriette Winslow, but still, she's not a light bright. That's why I call her brown.

You don't have to be mixed to be light-skinned. Also, there are brown and dark skinned women who are mixed like Tatyana Ali, Lark Voorhies, Maia Campbell, Kenya Moore, and Stacy Dash.

Yeah but in the eyes of other race of people Black people are all the same color when they watch Family Matters lol, but yeah in the pilot episode Judy was played by a light skinned girl by the second episode i guess people are suppose to think Judy had a sun tan cause she is dark as candy lol, and we are suppse to think that Harriet has the michael jackson skin change over night because Harriet went from dark to nearly white the next episode lol, Laura was the only one in the Family that was Brown skinned lol
