I don't know what's going on with her. One newsite said she was released from the hospital. Then ET reported she was in a coma and was not released and instead was taken to another hospital. Now that story is off the ET website. It sounds bad though. Prayers go out to Valerie.

Sources reporting that Valerie Harper is in a coma... possible complication of her "terminal" brain cancer? It's unfortunate, because I look at something like this as a major setback, perhaps a turn for the worse, rather than "just a blip". This is really sad, because I just saw Ms. Harper guest-star on 2 Broke Girls (an episode titled "An the Great Unwashed") earlier this year.

Reports are extremely inconsistent. Of course, Valerie's privacy is hers, and should be respected. It's just tiring to see "sources" saying so many different things.

I hope she recovers from this concern.

They have attempted to contact her husband, Tony Cacciotti, but he has not returned their calls. There are times when a family needs its privacy and this appears to be one of them. They're dealing with a huge weight right now, and the presence of a nosey media is not always welcome. Of course, the media is there on behalf of the equally nosey public. I know fans are concerned, and so am I, but the family deserves to have its privacy respected. And we should not encourage the media to meddle. When the time is right, I am sure her husband will issue a statement. Until then, we should all -- fans and media -- respect the privacy of Ms. Harper, Mr. Cacciotti, and all of their family and loved ones.

There is one source - apparently a female who is part of the musical she was in - who stands by her 'leaks' to the press, despite the reports to the contrary.

She is claiming that Harper was unconscious when they found her backstage Wednesday night (reports are saying she wasn't - she regained consciousness); that she was med-vac to a major Boston hospital on Thursday morning from the smaller hospital in York (reports are saying she was 'released from the hospital in Maine') and she says she is in a coma (reports are saying she is resting comfortably).

She is also saying that Harper is not doing well at all (reports are saying she is relaxing) and the prognosis is grim (reports are saying she may return to the stage before the play closes in 2 weeks). She has warned fans not to believe the 'spin' the theater and others are putting on this tragic story.

I personally believe this woman. If we remember back to a year ago with Joan Rivers, there were conflicting reports as well. Joan's 'resting comfortably' was their positive way of saying she was in a coma, and hoping for Joan to return to the stage in September meant she was not doing well at all.

Whatever is the truth, I wish Valerie well and positive thoughts.

I don't know. Sally Struthers is saying she's feeling better today. I hope that's the case.

Okay, so we're not supposed to believe this report, either? (It said Valerie Harper was never in a coma)

http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/celebrit...w?ocid=ansET11

If so, then certain news sources can be so stupid.

If her daughter says she's not in a coma, then I believe her.

Do you have a link for this alleged source? Without some verifiable proof it's only hearsay.

Well, Valerie has updated her Facebook and Twitter.

Quote:
My dear friends and fans!
As always, thank you for your amazing support. I am happy to report I am not, nor have I been, in a coma.

As anyone who has taken strong medication knows, it doesn’t always agree with you, even with me as this experience proves.
I am confronting these hurdles with my usual enthusiasm and love of life.

Much love, Valerie

p.s.
But I must confess that the highlight of this ordeal came when I was escorted by two handsome young men and a pilot, in a medivac helicopter, as the full moon lit the sky. Talk about movie magic!!!
Perhaps there is more to the story... But Valerie has put everything out in the open to her fans the last couple years, so why hide anything at this point?

This is the reality of the media these days. In the old pre-Internet days, the media was very cautious and made sure everything was verified before running a story. Today they're just concerned with being the first to report a story and all too often it's very wrong. This is yet another sad example. Wasn't it E Online who broke this messed-up story?

The theater has announced she will NOT be back in the production as they hoped she would be. Actress Brenda Vaccarro will be taking over the role starting this week, and continue through to the final curtain on August 15th.

I think there's much more to the story of what's going on...
