Use, for example, an episode where somebody visits a character on the series for some reason or another. We don't necessarily see them coming over or talking, but the episode may start with them walking out the door then the characters talking about why the character was there. It would be awfully weird for her to be there and just suddenly ask "Why did you adopt Arnold and Willis?" out of the blue, the response Mr. Drummond gives was a way to explain why she was there without going into a whole five minute scene where she would have to ring the doorbell, sit down, be offered coffee, then ask a series of questions leading to his answer. The way it is presented in the episode makes it very clear what she is doing and why she is there immediately, while anything which may have lead up to it is implied, for the viewer to recognize "oh, so this is what happened BEFORE these lines."

Well I guess unless I can get the NBC episode I won't know for sure so for now we can just say unedited while I hunt for the NBC episode LOL.

As for the scene that looked edited in the episode "Substitute Mother", it looks like it jumps to another scene without a smooth transition.

You are wrong. It's not even a jump to another scene. Nothing wrong on that one either. Look 15:55 in from this syndicated version:

Looks like a edit to me because once he sits down there is no salad in front of him and then all of a sudden he is chewing and saying it's good 5 secs later.

15:57 to 16:00

Tell me that is not a slight edit?

No, it is not an edit. He starts eating the salad right away and you even see Arnold didn't even close the door yet.

And that is not a jump to another scene. It's the same scene!

The salad is already in his bowl before he sits down. This one is not even a possible edit. No doubt about it.

Ok I didn't notice the salad in the bowl when he sat down so that's my error. But I will still hunt for the NBC episode of the Magician.

But as of now looks like i was wrong. I don't mind being proved wrong, it's called interesting conversation on a TV board

Our dear Solomon could have a slight case of analytic paranoia.

Interesting conversation? You blatantly called it an edit. That is false info! You were calling it a fact that it was edited. You need to remove yourself as a TVFactFan. Because that wasn't a fact. It was speculation. You need to need ask it as a question rather than just accusing them of editing it. How would you like it if I accuse you of something without "facts."

You right Pav, my bad. See I wasn't even in a analyzing mood I was just watching the DVD and relaxing and all of a sudden when I saw the beginning of the Magician I was like..."wait a minute, something is missing."

But I should have just questioned if it was a edit. So you are right

I think the title of this thread should be changed otherwise people might see it and think episodes are edited on the set causing them not to purchase it.

It is amazing how people notice edits that aren't there and won't notice that their is a 40 second scene missing from the Health Club episode. There is a dancing scene between Kimberly and Adelaide that was removed due to music rights.

I know this because that scene is intact with the Encore episodes.

I does not matter considering these are not syndicated episodes and run longer than they will in syndication so let's not complain about possible edits.
