I liked the series "Batman" with Adam West and Burt Ward. I do find the cartoon Batman too dark (a little depressing) so I don't watch it. For some reason I get depressed just looking at it.

I realize the cartoon may not be for everyone, but I think it is the most realistic portrayal of Batman that I have ever seen, because it does expose the dark side of Batman's character. Let's face it Batman was a very dark character, he was a loner, and he was very angry after his parents were murdured. The cartoon at least shows why he is on this crusade against crime, and it shows how his personality changes from a amicable guy (Bruce Wayne) to the psychotic crime fighter (Batman). In my opinion, the television series was at best comical, it did not do justice to the character of Batman, or to the villians he faced on a regular basis. I do agree that the television series is more suited for children, because we do not actually see the punches connect, instead we have words appear such as POW! to censor the violence. However, I am not a child any longer, if given a choice, I would prefer something with a little more substance and depth. But in any case, we are fortunate to have the movies, cartoons and the old television series to choose from, in each person can choose which one they like best based upon their individual taste. So the legacy still lives on.
