I think so too. Not sure he would have proposed immediately, and it seems more within his character to go there without a real plan and let things happen as they will simply because he wanted her to know how important she was to him and that he didn't want to lose her, but my guess is that he basically had no intention of being anywhere that she wasn't at that point. I also agree with the person who said that he'd have a hard time being so far away from the rest of the gang in Seattle. After 10 years of making up for lost time with Martin and Niles, and having such a close friend in Roz, having Daphne finally become the family member she always seemed to be from the start, plus a new nephew and probably more nieces and nephews in the future? I can't see him being as far away as Chicago for very long. And, speaking from experience, it's really difficult to be very far away from your parents the older they get too-- especially the closer you are to them.

And now I hope you all don't shoot me... it really makes no difference to me whether he permanently ended up with Charlotte or not (sorry!). I think that's because we just barely knew her and really, so did Frasier, and I think he was going to Chicago more to see about possibilities. And since Chicago was her hometown (wasn't it?) it seems not very fair to ask her or want her to go back toward Seattle with him unless she really had no family of her own there. I liked Charlotte okay, but at the point that it was left for us, I didn't quite get the feeling that she was particularly his "soul mate" the way that Daphne was for Niles, and that's probably because the relationship was so new. I got the feeling that they really liked each other and that there could be the potential for something real there and that he absolutely should have gone to Chicago to pursue the relationship and see where it might go. But I can see so many issues and problems for them too, not only in location, but she was, after all, very much on the rebound. I think it would have been great for him if it developed into something more and worked out, but if it didn't, I think it would also be great for him to have gone on to San Francisco after some time, visited Seattle often as he said he would, and found his true "soul mate"-- Niles and Daphne-like -- somewhere there.

But Charlotte was the only lady he chased after. At leastm to that extent. But good points.

Well that's true. I guess I feel like that right person always seems to have something extra special there right from the start, small as it might be-- at least in TV Land, anyway -- some kind of special chemistry, whether it be a special friendship or love at first sight or even anger/hatred-- and I didn't think I saw anything like that with the two of them. It seemed to me like that relationship looked very much like so many others that he'd had that didn't work out. But then again, I do remember in the season opener he spoke with Niles at Nervosa and they talked about his pattern of messing it up when things started to get serious ("commit to committment" ), and Niles rattled off all those names of the women who had seemed right for Frasier but he had failed relationships with. So I suppose the fact that he actually went after Charlotte, along with his speech to the family saying he wanted what they had might be a sign that he was finally ready to commit, and that this would be the one that worked out. That literally just occurred to me as I write this.

But I'm still glad it's open to our own interpretation because I don't like to think he'd go (and stay) so far away from his family after all the time he'd put into getting closer to them.

Okay you guys are inadvertently killing me with all these ideas because I have a Frasier/Charlotte story on my endless list of Frasier fan fics to write, so I'll be sure and mention all these great ideas (in exchange for some readings of course! I know... I'm terrible, aren't I?) in an author's note!

But Andress I wasn't trying to undermine you at all since like Kristin said, they never actually said what happened to Frasier so any of those ideas are possible.

Do you think you even have to ASK me to read your story, Andrea? I'm practically the president of your fan club (well, self-appointed, anyway!). I'm so thrilled to hear you have a Frasier/Charlotte story in the works. I mean, I knew that already, but it's nice to hear you haven't forgotten about it!

Here are the final words of Goodnight Seattle.

Quote:
Passanger on plane: I think it's great what you're doing.
Frasier: I just know I would always regret it, if I didn't take the chance.
Pilot: Welcome to Chicago.
[pause]
Frasier: Wish me luck.

I would think it would kill Frasier to be so far away from N/D's kids and even Martin. Not to mention Nervosa!
I agree. I think it would have been hard for Frasier to be away from Seattle and everyone there.
