Betty Garrett died in 2011 so I expect she will be included in next years tribute. It's a shame however that Peter Graves and Cory Haim were excluded as they should have been part of this years tribute.

I am thrilled that Colin Firth and The King's Speech won major awards! The movie was absolutely amazing and I have always loved Colin Firth. I wanted him to win last year as well even though I still haven't seen the movie he was nomimated for. And how awesome was that story the director told about his mother giving him the idea about doing the "King's Speech" movie.

Everyone is saying that the Best Picture winner was too predictible, but I honestly didn't think it would win. It certainly deserved to, but I was extactic when I heard them read the name out.

It says on imdb that Natalie Portman is engaged to Black Swan choreographer, Benjamin Millepied, and that they're expecting a child.

Regarding Sandra Bullock, I adore her, and I remember last year's Academy show so well. Sandra was beaming onstage and after, just glowing. She was with the jackass Jesse James. Of course, she didn't know that he was cheating on her left and right. What we didn't know was that they had their baby Louis at home for almost two months. They were keeping it quiet until the adoption was finalized.

So there was Sandra, deliriously happy; in a happy marriage to a wonderful man, a new baby at home, and winning the Best Actress Oscar. We all soon knew that Jesse wasn't a wonderful man, but on that night at the Oscars, that was her reality.

At tonight's ceremony, I thought of her last year. Although part of her happiness last year was an illusion, she looked like the happiest woman on earth. No smiles tonight from her, and she didn't look happy to me. I know she didn't win an Oscar, yet even the usual twinkle in her eye was absent. I don't even know if I've explained this adequately. I'm glad she's away from that tattooed trash, but she loved his kids. Even though Jesse was no great loss, it was the loss of the life she thought she had, and a life she loved. Seeing her tonight, I was reminded of that.

I'm sure motherhood is everything Sandra wanted, and more. Baby Louis is the rainbow in her storm. I'm sure Sandra will find a man to love and appreciate her, honestly. She's a great lady. Jesse is a fool. He married Hollywood's darling and he destroyed it all, the idiot. Was my answer long enough for you? lol.

Well, I think he'll now have TWO great roles he'll always be known for - Mr. Darcy in the BBC miniseries Pride & Prejudice and now the king in The King's Speech. He's definitely an underrated actor - and I am happy for his success.

There is no Academy Award or Golden Globe Award for Best Voice Actor/Voice Actress, which is why my grandson Jim thinks voice acting is stupid.

Well, that's your grandson's opinion, and he's entitled to it. But I think it takes a special kind of actor to pull off a good performance in an animated film. Some of the names that immediately come to mind are Mel Blanc, Eleanor Audley, Cliff Edwards and, yes, Tom Hanks and John Goodman (there's a good reason he's lent his voice to so many animated films).

Did anyone else find Franco a bit off putting as a host? He just kind of did his 'vacant smile' thing and never really projected much personality at all. I also don't think he seems to have any comic timing. Hathaway was OK, though it did seem at times as if she was trying too hard (perhaps to make up for Franco?). I dunno...just my thoughts.

All in all, a good show, though. Nice to see it was largely free of politics and snark. I didn't see any of the films nominated so I didn't have a dog in any fight. Loved Kirk Douglas, would have loved to have seen he and Ernest Borgnine onstage together.

I thought they did fine with the material that was written for them. Though, I think it was a bizarre choice to put the two of them together. I know they were trying to appeal to a younger demographic but it's beyond me how they came up with those two names to host.
